I sent Mike an old Dorian safari hat that my daughter bought for me to use as a fishing hat many, many years ago. The hat has been almost indestructible, surviving weeks at a time in the rain and snow as well as being knock into streams only to be retrieved hundreds of feet below. with a four inch brim I was hoping for a reblock to gain crown and remove taper however severe fading prevented that. We settled on a new ( non Jungle Jim ) ribbon and a 2 3/4- 2 1/2 dimensional brim cut . I could not have been more pleased

After having Mike do repair work and renovations on several of my hats I felt I owed it to him to make me a new one ( how is that for rationalization ) He produced this fantastic Whippet clone.

I'm not one of Mike's customers, but I don't think I've ever seen a North West hat here that I didn't like.

It is great that more people are stepping up to keep the hatmaking craft alive.

Really nice Dan. It's hats like that that make me want one also because of my large hat size finding a vintage one is hard. I must not look again. I really don't NEED one.
