I know this is a late reply but I am insanely jealous of this outfit! Vintage 30's collegiate looks are my favorite. This outfit really is something else well done!

All good points. The Peacoat is my fall jacket- it was in the 40s so not cold enough for an overcoat. I am keeping an eye out for something a bit more land fairing for a fall coat though.

I keep seeing beautiful tweed overcoats on Etsy and Ebay going for ridiculously low prices. I wish I lived in a climate where I could justify buying one. I've managed to hold onto my Loden coat for a lot of years. They never go out of style and are fantastic for layering.

I have three overcoats that I wear all winter. Not sure what I am looking for for a fall coat, I guess I will know when i find it. (If ever)

I used to have a peacoat for winter use (our winters down here are probably about like your fall) and really appreciated the versatility of it. It looked nice when dressed up, and worked equally well with just bluejeans. I replaced it with one of these.....

It's a little more casual than a peacoat, but I still use it with a hat and tie, and get plenty of compliments when I do.
I'd like to eventually get another peacoat, but I also have a leather coat and a tweed overcoat, and since winters here are normally mercifully short and mild, it's not at the top of my list right now.

Same thing here, but every time I see one of these on ebay or Etsy I have a strong desire to buy one. In the short jacket-wearing season we have down here, I barely get enough opportunities to wear my leather jacket. The Mackinaws remind me of peacoats in that they were extremely well-made, warm, and, in general, a lot of coat for the price. I think this is why you sometimes see a huge difference in the asking prices for them: some people in the younger generation of sellers simply can't imagine that such a nice piece of apparel could be available for such a reasonable price. It's also odd that the companies that are recreating them can actually charge such astronomical prices (and get them) when the originals are all over the net for a fraction of the price.
