What Other Forums do the FL Crowd Frequent?

I am new to the FL forum and really enjoy the crowd and expertise, but I was wondering what other forums the FL crowd frequents? I know we all have a limited amount of time to spend but I am curious.

I will start: I am a long time Porsche guy. I have been on PelicanPart Porsche 911 forum more than I care to admit. I have a vintage 911 and have been owning, driving and restoring air cooled cars for a long time. I also recently purchased an Italian scooter and frequent some of the scooter forum regularly, but now that the weather is changing so are my interests.

Me? I frequent E.Cigarette forums where apart from generally joining in I sell my artisan made offerings. I also participate in one or two Harley Davidson and Leathercraft forums.

I was a member of a clothing forum for brief period until I realized it was made up of, mostly, though not all, uptight anal people who believed they were the be all end all authority on things sartorial. Most of the members, spanning the globe, thought wearing fedoras was "Costume -y". Needless to say I no longer visit that site. I do believe some members were also members here, though I do not see them posting here any longer. I prefer to be among people who conduct themselves as Ladies and Gentlemen regardless of differences of opinions and do not try to establish themselves as authority regardless of their knowledge. Happily, I have not found that to be the case here. We share a common interest, that is, primarily our love of hats. We seem to willingly share that knowledge, with very few, almost non existent, disparaging comments about another member.

Um, where do I start?

I've been a member of geocaching.com since, I believe, July of 2003. It's where I acquired my username and what I use practically everywhere.
I also enjoy visiting and lurking at badgerandblade.com, straightrazorplace.com, and shavemyface.com, among a few other wet shaving forums.
I enjoy reading stuff at brassgoggles.com and enjoy copying stuff noted at therpf.com
I frequent the boardgamegeek.com site since my family and friends are gamers, along with following a lot of the goodies noted on drivethrurpg.com.
I've also started to join my brother in finding the headstones of departed family members through findagrave.com.

My wife says I have too many hobbies. I just tell her that if I didn't have these hobbies there's no telling where I'd spend all of the money I've spent on the ones I currently have. :)

I lurk all over the place.

Yeah, been meaning to talk to you about that. It's not the lurking, it's doing it near the park in that van that says, "Free Candy" on the side. :p

Other than a couple of news aggregator sites that allow commenting on articles, I don't participate in any forums. This is the only place I have online "friends." I've always been pretty leery of abandoning my anonymity on the Net, but I've loosened up quite a bit here.

There's a fine line between lurking/stalking...

I think of some of them as "narcissistic, self absorbed, egotistical, arrogant, dandies."

You forgot "ignorant" and "slavish." One of the most detestable traits of so many sartorial forums is that they essentially disallow any personal style or idiosyncrasies, both of which are the very heart of style. You tend to see a lot of "Can I do this or that?", which I always find kind of sickening.

Agree with this wholeheartedly and what most others have said about the "sartorial" sites. I belong to a couple of them and couldn't say when I last visited them and only posted on one of them when someone asked a question about identifying a pair of cowboy boots. The two I'm speaking of are all about contemporary fashion and what is popular and most expensive.

Someone mentioned in this thread earlier about a post in one of the sites calling fedoras "costumey." Pretty much sums up the two sites that I used to visit.

This is one of my favorite things about FL - with rare exception, people are civil, considerate and incredibly willing to share their knowledge with others. While there is the occasional dust up, rarely is it rude.

As to the question at hand, the only other site I spend any time on is the Ask Andy About Clothes site as I love the discussions about Ivy Era (mainly '50s American college campus) clothing and, more broadly, traditional American clothing. Like here, most of the conversation is civil and most of the members are generous in sharing their time and knowledge.

I tried the TCM board, but I had a problem setting up my account and could never get it straighten out so I gave up. I did enjoy the conversation about classic movies, but in truth, like most of us, I not only don't have time for another forum, I spend too much time on the two I'm on already.

Beautiful. Favor Jaguar (especially the XJS '94 convertible) and frequent related sites.

I belong to p15-d24.com, a forum for owners of pre-1950s Chrysler products, and will post there occasionally, and often read Nitrateville.com, a forum for enthusiasts of pre-fifties movies. I also read Film-Tech.com, a forum for movie theatre technicians. But in general, my internet presence is confined exclusively to the Lounge.
