Buttonholes on some men's shirts...

The buttonholes on men's shirts are oriented vertically, all but the last one, the bottom one, which is often oriented horizontally. Why? Please and thank you.

The two buttons that receive the most stress during wear are the collar and bottom buttons. The horizontal buttonhole will take the strain without distorting and allowing the button to come undone.

My original thought was that it would be easier to fasten due to the location, never even recalling the collar area.
LOL.
Then again, when button flies were the norm, only a regular, vertical orientation was used.
(More sense and more sense equals dollars!)

Horizontal keyhole buttonholes were typical on button flies. Angled buttonholes were also used.
