Certainly a case of love at first sight. 20's J.C.Penney's Marathon. Genuine Velour. Fits my 7 5/16 size noggin as though it were made for me.
This thing is in amazing shape for its age. The sweat is supple, felt is un-dined upon (at least to my eyes) and the liner is really nice. I'm torn between saving it for occasions and wearing the heck out of it. I'm sure I'll find a happy medium.
I should check the classifieds more often.

My first post in a hat-related thread, I think. Just found this hat at the local vintage store. I have always liked these 'fuzzy' hats and it fits me perfectly. Furthermore, to my (not so experienced) eyes it looks pretty old. Curious to know what you think!
It has a rather high crown, taller in the front.
Inside label is no longer legible, unfortunately.
Label behind the sweatband is, but I don't know if that says anything...

Thanks! Kevin passed much to young! It's getting harder & harder to find a hat made by Kevin before he sold the shop in Durango. As it turns out this hat was made in 1989, on my birthday! I am pleased to have it!
Nice catch,Jack.Just received a custom Kevin O'Farrell made by Kevin when his shop was in Durango, so it's been a while. Cheesy hatband will go to be replaced by a grosgrain ribbon & the high fenders will be coming down. The crown should open up tall enough for either a Tom Horn or Gus crease. If I was any good I might try my hand at a horseshoe crease. Hat does have a couple of small larva holes but is otherwise a nice clean hat. I'm happy to get an O'Farrell.
