Chore Jacket

Do you all know how freakin' hard it is to find a chore jacket??? You know, a plain-as-dirt, simple chore jacket? Especially in a tall size? and UNLINED? It is essentially impossible. It is really Pi55i4g me off!!! Oh, I can find all kinds of chore jackets, but they all say "blanket lined, Blanket Lined, BLANKET LINED" AAAARGH!!! I live in Western Kentucky, and I can say with surety that a blanket lined jacket is absolutely unnecessary here, and, of course, way too hot when it is cool enough to wear a light jacket... When it is cold enough here to wear something lined, I would much prefer to wear a vest under an UNLINED jacket (at most, about 4 months out of the year), or, if it is actually really cold, I need something more. We basically have two seasons here...summer and fall.

Now, I have found a couple of places to get a simple chore jacket. One is at http://pointerbrand.stores.yahoo.net No tall sizes, naturally. Another I found is at www.unifmfg.com and apparently do have tall sizes...for $48 PLUS $10 small order fee PLUS shipping PLUS no returns....They don't look too friendly to deal with...

And, yes, I have thought about getting a lined one and ripping that stupid liner out....but I'd much rather not.

The "chore jacket" is your basic straightforward sack jacket with two or three or four patch pockets on the front. Very plain, very simple. You see ordinary folks in the "golden age" wearing them for work clothes. I was watching "Atom Man vs. Superman" on TV the other day (1950), and while Superman's arch nemesis Lex Luthor was in prison, he was wearing an ordinary denim chore jacket with patch pockets.

These should still be common as dirt....

I know that probably no one else out there has found a source for such a thing (but if you have, I would certainly appreciate it!!!), I just had to vent....It is SOOOO hard to find ANYTHING that fits me....:rage:

ADDENDUM:::Holy cats! I just looked at the main site at www.pointerbrand.com and they actually have a tall size chore coat in the hickory stripe (blue and white railroad stuff)...I just ordered one. No tall blue denim though, strangely enough. Dang. To top it all off, they're American made and only 28 bucks!!! I'm RELATIVELY happy again!!!:)

J.C. Penney used to carry them- you might try there. I know I've seen the unlined denim versions in their stores.
