Eastman B6 Standard Review PHOTOS

Very nice and great review and pics! I thought that the B-6 was really quite warm down to the low 30s and lower if you put something underneath.

It's funny, I had the same initial reaction to the leather on my ELCs. But in time, it breaks in, the sharp creases are joined by others and it gets to be like a baseball glove...soft, comfortable, and perfectly fitting.

The jacket looks like it fits you fantastically! One other thing that I like about the B-6/D-1 is the slim military fit. The Irvin is thick and beautiful. But, I still feel like I look like I'm being eaten by a Polar Bear!

Yes, the temperatures dropped a lot in last two days, I am waiting for my N1 to arrive, hopefully it can do the job, but if it can't, I may get a B-6 for me later.
BTW, why you want a D-1 over B-6?

I chose the D-1 because I like it's simple lines, would love a 'Redskin' B-6

The plunge in the temperature up here (we had a dusting of snow on the higher parts of Glasgow yesterday) has left me feeling slightly smug that I had the foresight to order an ANJ-4. If this taster of the winter to come is anything to go by, I'm going to be living in my sheepskins!

An ANJ-4 doesn't seem like a silly idea in northern Europe right now at all Sloan.

Although we're a little bit north we've already got a foot and a half of snow here and -4 Celsius. I've been living in my Irvin but if this keeps up and the temps keep going south I'll have to break out the Canada Goose soon.

But it's one of the very best things I love about being back here as opposed to Australia, I get to wear jackets all the time

Very nice looking jacket. Can I ask if you could possibly measure the length of the back from the bottom of the collar to the bottom of the hem? I'm thinking of getting one myself. Cheers, Richard

That is an outstanding jacket. Did you consider the ELC Roughwear B-6 at all? I am torn between the two. What is the coldest weather you have worn this in? (I am in Central New York state.) I would mostly be wearing this with a tee shirt, dress shirt, and tie for work every day, although I'd like to wear it with a sweater on weekends. I expect it might be too warm at +40F?

My measurements are nearly identical to yours: 5'9" 185lbs. 36" waist, ~42.5 - 43" chest. I have consulted the HP page, but am now more confused about sizing than ever, and wonder if I should go with a 46.

I got a size 44 50cal Eastman B6 at the end of this last winter but only had a few times to wear it. 5' 10", 185 lbs, 36 waist, 43/44 chest. First, the jacket will need a lot of breaking in. It's a tad stiff but was getting better when I had to stop wearing it for Spring. I guess you would call it a military fit, hence the need for breaking in. For sheer comfort, I suppose a 46 would be a possibility but then it would look way too bulky. I wear it on my motor scooter and it's very warm and the military fit makes sense. I'd forget about wearing it over a sweater. After I wear it for a full Winter, I'll know better about how well it breaks in. It's an incredibly well-made jacket. I will say that.

Very nice B-6, I hope to get the ELC standard B6 or D1 before the fall. It looks like the trim is done in the correct pigment finish. I do not think they should have switched to the aniline "War Horse" for the B3 and ANJ4 as it is not correct. I am concerned when I read that the sheep is now a new "broken grain". Is this a treatment applied before coloring? Is it a chemical method of aging or an embossed grain? I really do not like having to even ask about this because I thought the sheepskin they originally used was completly authentic and just fantastic. It had nice grain and developed the wrinkles like originals after break in.

Well, my wife measured my chest and it is more like 43.5 - 44". The Eastman site lists chest size 42-44 as size 44 and 44-46 as size 46. One always thinks they are going to lose that extra weight, but at 53, I am beginning to lose hope on that expectation. I believe I will be going with a 46". Still would love to hear about ELC Roughwear opinions.
