"Panama Jack" was already trademarked in the US, so to avoid legal trouble, they simply called them "Havana Joe" The shoes were a hit, and for years Americans enjoyed one of the finest European comfort walking shoes without worry that they would disappear. But in 2006, that's exactly what happened. They closed their warehouses and within several months, the shoes had disappeared from retailers, wholesalers and even Ebay. While the Chukka boots and the oxfords were among the most popular in the States, they took a back seat to fashion sneakers. These shoes are labeled "Panama Jack" They are made in Spain."

It seems they had to withdraw from the US market because legal issues with their brand names [huh]

^^ so, the "Blake" boots have more than three laces. They look nice, but are those considered. "chukka"? The price looks reasonable too for the boot.

From my view, those are a different kind of shoe. Chukkas are shorter.

^^^ Those don't look like Chukka Boots to me as the sides don't go up at all - they look like regular suede shoes usually called bucks.

If you are interested in a pretty classic pair of desert boots, I would suggest either of these if available where you live:

I own both, but prefer the J.Crew ones as I like its more-casual appearance and I find it a bit more comfortable.

I've gotten into Chukka boots within the past 8 months.
Two pair of Florsheim Jet Chukka boots, one pair in black one pair in brown.
Also have one pair of Dockers side zip Chukkas.
The Dockers I bought for less than $50, the black pair of Florsheim's for $66 on sale @ Christmas, but the brown pair of Florsheim's I had to pay full price for. They seem to fit better at $66 dollars than they do at $135.
The height of the boots seem to help with the standard pants length that are always a bit too long.
Plus it's rare to see someone else during my daily pursuits, wearing this style of boot.
The side zip being the most commented on of the three pairs.
I usually hear "hey those are side zips, I haven't seen that style in a long time!"
Which is why I wear them...to make a statement.

Thirty-something or forty years ago, I got a few of these when I was in The Pacific Northwest. They came with lug soles for traction, and that cheap polyester, furry lining. Ugly. But warm. Warm enough for a Californian. Of course, nothing is perfect in this world. The tongue is not gusseted. Water can splash up and seep in. The goofy fur lined insole wore down....... but what did I expect for 4 decades? The sole is a little worn, but still wearable, and I don't need a resole yet. The leather appears to be holding up. It came from Eddie Bauer. now, they mostly just sit around, waiting for the day when I step out and think to myself, "my feet are cold, I better go back and change into the warm boots".
