I sold off all my jackets save my Langlitz Cascade, as well as a few pieces of luggage I had lying around the house and an old Macbook, in order to afford a Kensington in Shinki. The ordering process has been sorta...odd and frustrating in a few ways, even though Himel, the first time I talked to him at least, was very cordial and warm. It's killing me waiting on the jacket. I must check Instagram a hundred times a day to see if it's been posted...

To me, it's the pinnacle of Cafe Racers. I'm a little nervous about the sizing, but I sent Himel my Langlitz to use as a model. Hoping it turns out nicely. I also bought one of his wallets. His design work really is impressive.

Aye, it's by far my favourite from Himel, and among top three all time. Please post as many photos as you can, once it arrives!

I've been considering a Himel Canuck or Heron, but being a relative newbie, I'm loathe to order without knowing my size for sure. Himel suggested I ask on FL if anyone who lives in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area) might be up for letting a stranger handle and try on their jacket. I just can't bring myself to spend this kind of money sight unseen and unhanded, not even knowing for certain if I'm a 36 or 38. So if anyone is in South Florida, has a Canuck or a Heron, in 36 or 38, I'd LOVE to meet up briefly, just so I can try it on. I WOULD BE INDEBTED to you. Thanks for any help you can offer...

I had a similar situation when I was ordering a jacket from GoodWear.
Mr. Chapman sent me a copy of the jacket he thought would fit on
a trial basis.
It fit perfect.
It was worth the shipping cost to find out if that size would fit
before starting to produce my jacket.

If no one from Florida replies, why not contact Himel again.
Perhaps they can do the same .
Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that if no one from Florida replies. I thought that except for the "Made" section on the website, they wouldn't have any others since most of the business seems custom, but I never asked specifically.

Do you have any jackets at all that you like the measurements of? Also, do you know your actual body measurements? This makes a huge difference.

yes i know both, and I'm fairly certain I'm a 36, but for that kind of money and no ability to return, I need to hold the item, feel the leather, and experience the fit. Maybe it's asking too much, but the fit of leather jackets seems more intangible than the number size. I may not even like the way a Himel Canuck that "fits" me fits, if that makes sense.

I get what you're saying. I gave David exactly the measurements I wanted for the jacket and it could not fit better, but I have had a decent amount of trial and error from previous jackets.

If I were you, I'd hop on a cheap flight to NY for Inspiration next month. Try the suckers on, and let Dave know you'll be there. The Canuck is a beautiful jacket, but in So FLA you may not wear it. The Heron is a tricky fit if you don't go custom. I tried them on at Inspiration last year, and instantly ruled out the Heron. You may also look into the Forbisher- it is a stunning jacket! You are right that you need to try on and feel them in person to know that you've made the right call. Be careful though, you might order more than one ;)
