That 1911 just keeps getting further and further away. Picked up this like new vintage M77 in 243 Winchester with vintage Japanese tasco at the pawn shop. The guy brought in a Browning Citori 12ga as well I'm going to get it later on in the week. Oh well. Gotta jump on the deals while they are hot. A brand new 1911 will be there

That's the kind of used gun to go for unless you're into patina. Sometimes I can't make up my mind, but right now I'm on the patina kick.

Really nice looking rifle. I have one in 7mm mag left handed. Been looking for one in 7mm-08 or 308 left handed (I'm a southpaw). Unfortunately Ruger lost their mind and discontinued left handed rifles with a wood stock. They only sell plastic versions now. I can't take the beating of the 7mm mag on the shoulder like I use to. I hate getting old.
Ya. Getting a custom stock made these days ain't cheap. Check out boyds gunstocks.com. I looked they have left-hand stocks for that rifle at very reasonable prices and few bucks more you can get walnut. There simi inlet so very little work and you'll be on your way. I've done several rifles with them with great results

In bound to round out my "Frank Hamer Collection" - after a month-plus of fighting with the USPS, the dealer finally got my "lost" payment (apparently Priority Mail = 32 days, not 2 days). Hopefully I will have the actual gun in the next week or so. Laser engraved Cimarron model P.

Actually I'm glad you mentioned Boyd's. I've been considering buying a left hand American or Axis and restocking it with a Boyd's stock. The other two I've been looking at is the Browning or Tikka. Both make left handed 308 and 7mm-08 with wood stocks. Tonight I'm going shopping for my first 9mm for concealed carry. Never owned an auto before. Been a revolver man all my life. Was looking at the LC9S but the safety is on the wrong side for southpaws. Want a safety because the trigger pull on the autos is a lot less than on a revolver. Going to look at the Beretta PX4 Storm Compact Carry if I can find one. Read a lot of good things about it so far. Afraid of the Glocks too. I've read too much about "Glock leg"

That is what I did. The sights are a little better than the first LCP, not quite as good as the LCP Custom, but a big improvement. The trigger with the short reset is fantastic. It is hammer fired and not striker fired and the stippling on the grip makes it a joy to hold. And the slide locks to the rear after the last shot. It also comes with a serviceable nylon pocket holster.
BTW Robert, that is a fine looking SAA you have or will soon have.

Okay, nothing to fear about Glocks, just be extra careful about the trigger getting something caught inadvertently. The little 42s and 43s, use a pocket holster like a Desantis Nemesis, put the gun in the holster, THEN put the whole thing in your pocket. The small Kahrs have excellent triggers and the Sig 290 is my personal favorite pocket 9. The Keltec PF9 is a rowdy lil beast but it is a great carry gun.

Your welcome, I did keep my original LCP too, because it is hard getting rid of toys. Too many times I have done that and said later on "Man, I wish I still had that _________"

+1 on Kahr DA triggers - the best DA auto trigger out there IMHO. And I have several friends who swear by their Keltec PF-9s as EDC guns.

OK, went to the gun store last night, the guy there was a jerk. Told him right away I was left handed, had never owned an automatic but had shot revolvers for a number of years. First one he pulled out was the New Ruger American Compact. I liked the gun right away, except it was a pro model (no manual safety). So I asked him about accidental discharge and trigger pull of a revolver verses the automatic. Based on his reaction, you would have thought I just called his daughter a prostitute. Proceeded to get a lecture that I didn't know what I was talking about (duh, that's why I asked the question to see if it should be a concern). I handed the pistol back to him and he immediately went to selling another person a full size one. I would have gladly waited until he was done to ask my questions but there were two other guys farther down behind the counter that were just standing there talking to each other (place was empty except for me and the other guy buying a pistol). You would have thought he would have called one of them down to answer questions for me. Nope. Treated me like I had the plague. So I just left. Later I found out via the internet that they make a version with a manual safety, he just didn't have one I guess. If he had just told me that and said he would have to order it for me, I would of said great and bought it on the spot. What he didn't know was I was carrying $1000 in cash and was ready to buy. So instead of selling 2 guns last night, he sold one. I guess I won't buying anything there in the future either. What really bothers me about it is: Does he treat people buying their very first gun this way too? Not good for our sport. Anyway, now that I'm done venting, have any of you all had any experience with the Ruger American Compact yet? After my experience last night, the Ruger SP101 is looking pretty good.
