Ok, first I'll say hey, I'm back from an unexpected loa for a while. Darry RealLife was being a pain, but I think I've beaten him back. We moved to Indianapolis this past summer and now that it's winter time and snow is falling today, the wife and I fingered it's as good a time as any to get a new coat, so my question is...

What would be a good color to go with the Disney seen in my avatar pic? We are looking at a semi-dressy all rounder, as the janky coat I have now would still be a good work/utility...

It is a nice tan color, I would say you have a plethora of options, from a brown Carhartt like Harv rocks to a classy vintage camel colored overcoat with a fur collar. That color is so versatile, you can do just about anything!

Yes, a color like that will work with many combos - especially earth tones.

Or, you could go all out:

It is probably a good thing I did not discover the world of Vintage earlier in my life as a shopaholic it would have been dangerous. I have picked up some wonderful coats here on the Lounge and on Ebay for pennies on the dollar. My latest is a camel coloured 100% cashmere overcoat for $9 plus another $9 for shipping. It just needed a minor repair on the lining. There are a ton of great coats on the Bay. Just be careful on the sizing if you plan to wear it without a suit jacket underneath. If so, drop down a size if you can so the coat does not swamp you. Alterations are expensive and can render a jacket not a good buy if it requires anything major. I viewed a Burberry 80% wool, 20% cashmere in Holt Renfrew on the weekend for $2000. When the clerk asked if I wanted to try it on.....I sniffed the air and said No Thank you I am only interested in 100% cashmere and then went home and hugged my $18 coat!!

Thanks, I think it's called silverbelly, but not sure. I had been thinking about black, dark brown or even a dark grey...

The lighting and small version of a avitar is tough to go from. Try posting a larger 600x image that shows the real color of this hat. I say even if it is "silverbelly" you are still looking at some of the same recommendations. A very nice color to contrast with darker clothing. Give us more to work from.

Here is from when I first signed up and posed some pics...

Well, here's mine... To quote one of my favorite Fedora wearing actors in a movie where he doesn't wear one... She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid... It's a bit of a 'beater', but she fits well, and has character...

Here is a "broad stroke" question..Would it be a "fair assumption " that any American made fedora with a black sweatband is most likely a mid to late "60's" made hat ?
