Just recently the 2013 version of The Lone Ranger was shown on TV. Somehow I was anticipating disappointment, being one of those 50's kids who grew up on Clayton Moore, but I actually enjoyed it. And the finale was all that I love in 'the chase.' A steam train chase, backed by Rossini's famous score.

To cap off Christmas, I watched my very favorite Christmas movie, The Bishop's Wife. Never fails to leave my heart glowing with joy.

'The Grey' (2012)..........I have seen it a few times before & found it ridiculous, ......................the scenery though is sometimes stunning.

I watched that quite some time ago and just got a sense of inevitability, that this film was only going to end one way. The "twist" with the wife at the very end wasn't unexpected either. I did enjoy the look of the film and I always like Neeson.

Finished "Miracle on 34th Street," it's a classic for a reason. Also interesting to see a pre- "I Love Lucy" William Frawley who, no matter how old he was, basically always looked liked Fred Mertz from the TV show. Even in movies from the '30s, when he was a much younger man, he looked old for his age. He's one of those guys who looked old when young, but then, pretty much, looked the same for the next 30 years.

Went into it with very low expectations, but was happily surprised
and entertained. Some good acting. A nice story.
I believe this movie was a victim of horrible promoting. It was not
The poorly done comedy it was portrayed.
I am glad I watched it.

Casablanca, again. Currently, The Maltese Falcon. Guess what I'm watching next? LOL! Nice to see I'm not the only one. :D

We got sucked into "Casablanca" last night on TCM. As this is the eight-hundredth time I've seen it, I continue to be amazed that it fully engages me (proving it is either an outstanding movie or my small brain is easily engaged).

Three things struck me this time: (1) the movie has almost a breakneck pace, (2) Sydney Greenstreet is an outstanding foil to Rick and (3) while Ingrid Bergman is beautiful - her skin seems to be lit from beneath - that little corner of the earth had more that its fair share of truly gorgeous woman in '42 with Yvonne and Annina being no second choices to Bergman.
