What do you do for Living?

I am currently doing some freelance work for a reproduction clothing company and a local museum in Dallas. Come the New Year, I'm going back to the graphics world... steady work... benifits...food...mmmm food. Also, fatdutchman and moustache just climbed to the top of the list of fellas I would not want to get in a knuckle drill with.

I've done a number of things, some of which were more interesting than others; but these days I mainly make up stories for a living, with a little consulting on the side.

Yep, you guessed it. I am a Funeral Director and Embalmer (Mortician suits me fine, undertaker, Embalming artist, or to one fellow in high school I was a "funeral home dude"lol ). I also do all the reconstructive arts on our accident victims so the family can view the body and I am also the Assistant Pastor of a small Baptist Church.

I am currently working part time at my father's uniform (police, fire, postal, etc) store as a clerk, shoe salesman, phone operator, inventory, and stock. Basically a department store like job. My career goal is as a film editor and director (among other things that will get done in the process)
Creative writing, screenplays, building historian. I do freelance photography, graphic design, film editing, videography, DVD and video duplication, DVD Authorizing, anything associated with "video". As freelancers would think/say, "Please hire me!". I also occasionally play as a teacher's assistant at a high school and at this very moment, I am doing DVD packaging on some event with this lounge place....

For about 2 years I worked at a golfcourse as the head outdoor guy. Now that I think of it that job didn't have a title. Basicallly tossing golfbags around and taking them off golfcarts. Range duties. Cleaning clubs. The usual labor. Made some nice tips, though. However now that I'm in college I'm currently unemployed. Sometime in January I'll get a new and better job, though.

Since the last time I posted in this thread my employment situation hasn't really changed much - I'm still a student. Although I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to move on, as much as I love a lot of what I study. Right now I'm hoping to get into the Moving Image Archive Studies program at UCLA after I graduate from where I'm at now. In between school I've done all sorts of random jobs - from doctor's office receptionist, to working in a chocolate store, to working in a library cataloging department, to being a communications intern for a defense company. Who knows what I'll be doing next year.

I am freelancing in advertising

Graduated from artschool once upon a time!
Working as an Art Director for the last 30 years.
10 years ago I began writing headlines and copy too.
Just like I started directing the commercials (TVAds) I wrote some 8 years ago.

Besides that I teach advertising and communication on several artschools, and are often invited to national as well as international jurywork.
(Have won my fair share of prices too.)

Always wanted to learn to play saxophone! Just don't know how to get started. I've also heard, that it is pretty hard to learn, if you have no musical experience besides turning records.

Courage, Spit. The sax is about the easiest instrument to start on. It's miles easier than the guitar, for instance. (You only have to play one note at a time.) You can play tunes in a week and have the basics down in 90 days. Of course, getting really good takes a lifetime...
