If you live in LA:

The New Beverly Cinema on Beverly by La Brea is Los Angeles's last remaining fulltime revival theater: http://www.michaelwilliams.com/beverlycinema/

Recently they did a LA Confidential/Black Dahlia night and a Gilda/The Lady from Shanghai night. Friday they are showing Chinatown/Fairwelll my Lovely. I went to see Gilda, because I love that movie, and it was my first time at the theater.

Fun, interesting crowd, oldfolks and film buffs, casual theater. I'll be keeping my ears to the ground on schedules from now on.

They are doing a Bullitt/Dirty Harry double feature for Christmas.

Great! I drove by it about two weeks ago, never have noticed it before... Noticed the $3 seats sign and vowed to check it out sometime. Nice to know we can add that theatre to the Egyptian and Aero that play classics.

Off note~ have you been to the Silent Movie Theatre on Fairfax? Everytime I try to find schedules etc it seems like a chore.

I love the New Beverly but you take your chances with the print quality. Still, for what they charge you can't feel too ripped off. Also, it's about the last place in town to consistently show classic films.

The 3 dollar ticket theater is The Fairfax at Beverly and Fairfax. The Beverly Cinema is a few blocks down and not quite as cheap. 7 bucks.

And yah, print quality has been bad. But I haven't gone to see a movie that I haven't already seen 5 times, so it hasn't really bothered me.

sweet, merciful ham on rye! they're playing Sunset Blvd and All About Eve back to back later this month!

Mr Scorpion, you are henceforth one of my favorite people.

I was eyeing that one, too.

Confession: I've never seen All About Eve.

truly? it's brilliant! i hope you get a chance to view it. though, if you were to only watch one Bette Davis as Mature Woman in Crumbling Castle film, i'd recommend The Little Foxes.

All About Eve also features a small, gratuitous Marilyn Monroe scene. when i first saw the film (when i was very young, and hadn't practiced listening to English enough), i thought the character Addison was called Adder's Son. i was duly nervous about him.
