The more I look at this one, the more I think it might be from that time period. The unreeded sweat, no liner tip protector and old school looking factory sticker make me lean to the forties rather than my initial guess of the fifties. The "twin" to this one, the Pilgrim I got at the same time, is almost identical in look and feel but with a reeded sweat, an onionskin tip protector and a more modern looking sticker. I think it is early fifties.

I loved that Foyle's War series on netflix. I noticed several hats (not all, but some) worn by Foyle and some others that were fedoras but they had flat brims front and back.

Yes, many of the hats had very little bending in the brims. Camera angles played a part of that story too I think. Most had some upturn at the back and many some snap at the front. I think the brim width varied from series year to series year as well. I think it's my favorite look. Not that I play favorites much as you may notice.

I solemnly swear that I'm wearing a hat every day. Same old hat every day tough, and going utterly nuts on the last days of the crowdfunding for Barcelona's Stroll with a Hat event. Seems pretty clear that we will reach the minimum and get the funding, pfffiuuu. Yesterday I was flabbergasted when I saw that Philip Treacy had made a contribution, it doesn't get much better than that. I had sent an email, but never in a million years hat I expected a contribution, not because the event is not worth it, but because he is a very busy guy. So by the time I had taken this pictures on the elevator at the end of the day I was pretty happy:

You guys look always amazing... how do you do it?!

This hat is the generous gift that Steve took me straight from Vienna.
In his research of "perfect" velour he has found a couple of magnific hats, one arrived in the United States, the other has stopped in Verona. Thanks Steve!

Huckel Platin sold in Wien. H. Peder was the seller

The felt, really soft, is black with some gray shades

The shape is that of a hat made in the thirties although to date it Steve is the most reliable source

Clean, combed and put in form is returned to its former glory
These are the last days to wear the hats of velour, heat advancing undeterred

The hat is a piece of history of glorious Austrian hatters of the last hundred years

Thanks for the likes for the other velour presented with the brand Borsalino as maker.
