Am I crazy for not loving my new Aero horsehide jacket?

Banned is a strong word. I'm sure if I wanted to buy a new jacket, they would take my money. They just didn't want to remake the one that fit poorly, which was not my favorite decision, but understandable at the time, since they were being flooded with mislabeled returns and remake orders then from "Storsegate." I'm sure I didn't catch them at their best. I'd do a fit jacket next time thru Insurrection first, if I had the urge. More likely I'd just go with Johnson Leather. Hard to fit a big guy with weird measurements over the phone on a transatlantic call.

See, this is exactly what I imagine them thinking of me and I hope I'm wrong. Probably not but... They never made me a bad jacket. There was just one that was way too big and another that had some other problem but ultimately, both issues were quickly resolved. Aero was always right by me and I always make a point of... pointing that out.

Aero, if you're reading this, I am perfectly happy with the CR.

I think if we all had to survive in some futuristic post-apocalyptic dystopian hell hole, FQHH or some super heavy Lost Worlds HH is the way to go. You wouldn't have a closet full of light, medium and heavyweight leather jackets to choose from; in fact, you wouldn't even have a closet! Just the one jacket you are wearing on your back.
It's great to have the comfort and convenience (and choice) of the right leather jacket for whatever occasion pops up, be it a trip to the pub, traveling to visit the in-laws, or surviving that futuristic post-apocalyptic dystopian hell hole

It's lined with corduroy, so I might not get a chance to wear it too much right away now that it's getting warmer, but will come back to it in the fall. And I think this and my Schott half belt are for different weather and occasions. The Schott is cordovan steerhide lined in cotton drill, so is lighter, maybe dressier, and suitable for warmer weather. The black FHQQ Aero lined in corduroy is for cooler weather - and when I want to try looking like a bada$$ lol.

I have to say that even though i bought four jackets from them i also feel that way!
They don't answer my emails anymore, kinda feel like they barred me...

I've bought four too. Five, but that one was a gift. Two I returned because of things, two I sold 'cause I screwed up the measurements thinking I'm so very smart and last one I'm keeping forever. But yeah, I'm also under the impression Holly rolls her eyes when they get my mail. XD

Yes, driving with a new leather jacket is difficult, and yes it will get better as it breaks in, but it will always be a leather jacket that is more restrictive in the shoulders than other shells. One of the best ways to break it in is to drive while wearing it.

Now, before it gets too warm, is a good time to wear it in the house with the A/C turned down a bit. Do repetitive hugging motions, followed by putting your elbows as far behind your back as you can get them, alternating with arm raising movements. Anything to get the shoulders and chest moving in different directions. I don't much wear a new leather jacket in the house, but I do wear it while doing exercises to loosen the shoulders. Only takes a few minutes at a time. I normally will do the exercises a time or two a day. Sometimes more if I am in a hurry to get it broken in because cool weather weather is here, and the jacket is being worn.

If you put the jacket away because of warm weather, it will be as stiff and unyielding when cold weather arrives as it is now. Work on it through the Summer, and it will be ready to go when temps cool.

Would any of us really wear our jackets in that dystopian hell hole? Doubt it. The radiation would make our jackets pretty much unwearable. Unless we periodically performed HDRWT, (hot de-rediation water treatment). When perusing Soviet flight jackets it's safer to buy post '86..

Oddly, I've owned 5-6 Aeros (only one custom) and î only own one now, which I don't wear.
It makes me sad as I think it was timing of the old regime and me being a big guy.
Conspired against me which is why I see all these new Aeros and get bummed out at how nice they are.
Now that could be due to the Thurston affect being there in the middle helping too.
I'm still very hesitant to go this route but we'll see.

Well, I've currently got 5 Aeros.
2 x FQHH, 1 x Goat, 1 x Heavy Steerhide & 1 x Good Old Connelly Steerhide.
Love them all but they do all have very different properties.
Give it time & wear the heck out of it. The more you use it, the better it will become it really is that simple.
It won't, however, get any lighter.

I bought a used Highwayman in Steerhide... you can't pry that jacket off my back! It's everything a leather jacket should be. I can't wear it much longer as it's gettin' warm out. But fall and spring... it's my black go to leather jacket. I might feel differently if it were FQHH but I don't know. I got it well broken in and have done nothing but wear the crap out of it since...

I think you need time to get to know each other better, I have two jackets that weigh around 4 kilos in size 36 made of 1.6-1.8mm cowhide, they are heavy when I hold them in hand, but once put on the body it doesn't feel that much. what I like of thick leather, they are not too clingy on the body, to me they are better ventilated than a thin leather and heavy lining that rests on me, imho.

The funny thing is that I've actually thought about this. If it started going down, I would actually be giving Aero or Lost Worlds a call haha
