You all I'm sure have heard "I Can't Get Started" well Bunny started that tune. His trumpet work rivals Armstrong though booze cut his life short at 33 in 1942. His recording of Started was even used on the "Chinatown" soundtrack.

An awesome collection of his work is available on emusic.com. You can sign up for a boat load of downloads for one price a month. They have a lot of Ellington too.

It works with any MP3 player. I am currently digging the Berigan 1936 disc.

If you join, tell 'em Brian Sheridan set ya!

Thanks!

hard to single out a favorite Berigan record-His chorus on Jelly Roll Blues is pure poetry and if possible he saw possibilities in tune that Morton didnt. At least Jelly was still around to get some royalty check

one funny thing about him. Since his alcohol inflicted death was brought up...It makes me smile to know that he had his trumpet case modified to have a storage compartment for his booze.
