Don't Mess With Olivia DeHavilland

I watched the entire series and "felt" it played fast-and-lose with many "impressions" I had based on books, etc., I've read over the years. But lacking Lizzie's encyclopedia-like recall, I only "felt" it was wrong, but would have had to do research to prove it.

Good for DeHavilland (what a good last name) - if they grossly misrepresented her and never even bothered to try to confirm accuracy, then she should sue and hopefully will win.

What's "bad" about shows like "Feud," which I enjoyed overall, is it muddles the truth in your own head. Overtime, you forget what you read from a reasonably reliable source and what you saw or heard here or there from things not-reliable like "Feud."

I thought Catherine Zeta-Jones was absolutely TERRIBLE as Olivia, a surprisingly bad performance from a not-bad actress. And part of that was the script, which didn't feel like it was portraying her remotely accurately to start with, and was simply using the idea of her for window dressing.

I mean, Feud was very uneven overall, but I ended up mostly enjoying it. However, CZJ's performance and the writing on Olivia was an embarrassment. I'm not sure if it's worth a lawsuit, but it's great to know that at 101 de Havilland is still sufficiently engaged to bring one!

Agreed. CZJ was remarkably bad. I didn't care for Feud beyond the first three episodes and bailed before the thing wrapped up. My likely unpopular opinion is that Jessica Lange is a parody of herself now. Her performances are mannered, ticky, and with a weird speech pattern that cant't be traced to any region or school of instruction. In short, I thought she reeked as Joan Crawford.
Sarandon, otoh, was credible as Bette Davis. She at least passed in speech and manner enough to make it believable. So it was Bette Davis and Jessica Lange, and a crowd of badly written sub characters.
I hope the suit is successful.
