Ordering the perfect Aero Sheene: Advise?

The Board Racer is smaller than the equivalent Café Racer…so a size 40 in a Café Racer would approximate a size 42 in a Board Racer. I’m sure Carrie (at Thurston Bros.) or Aero can explain the subtle differences much more precisely than I can.

I've just had this conversation with Carrie. The closest match to my Navy Blue Board Racer size 42 was actually a Sheene Size 38 with 0.5 added to the sides so it's closer to 2 sizes difference !!

Some things to add.

Thank you all for your advise and tips.

I will go with 1 chest pocket because I dont want another jacket with 2 slanted chest pockets because i already own one:

I prefer the cafe racer fit. The cafe racer is more V-shaped and the board racer is a a straighter fit.

Here are my board racer and my old cafe racer jackets. Now i am 10 pound lighter then i was when i bought the cafe racer.

Aero_Fan07, thank you for posting your jacket and your nice tartan lining. But i already have some jackets with different tartan linings.

@Peacoat Marc wrote Moira Mac is no longer with Aero and works now at Simmons Bilt. http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/sb-biker-jacket-pics-a-plenty.90008/

@ton312

Have you seen the new Simmons Bilt pattern?

Just for clarification Moira Mac has NOT left Aero. Moira Mac is a bit of specialist of Cafe Racer, Board Racers and Sheene here at Aero.
The Moira at Simmons Bilt is a different Moira.
As for Simmons Bilt "new" pattern ....... ?? No comment!

like many here, i also consulted the forum when it came time to spec my Sheene. It's almost a year old now and keeps getting better and better.

mine is a pretty standard spec:
size 42, brown FQHH - grain spec'd at 50/50 smooth vs. grainy
HWM Collar - i remember reading that the smaller collars you can spec on this jacket may look out of place if you're a bigger guy or have a bigger dome.
antique brass ball pulls on everything
interior snap pocket on left breast
standard pointy yoke
inside kidney panel
zippered handwarmers - opted for the zips since i use it to hold stuff and am paranoid about losing things
olive drab contrast stitching
i added a total of 0.5 inches to side panels for a little extra girth
made by Moira Mac

love love love my jacket.

Edited my post. I have to apologise because i don't want to spread a false statement (today better known as alternative facts).

Some of my jackets are made by Moira Mac and she always did a perfect work. If i will consider a Cafe Racer or when ordering my Sheene i would be glad if she will make the jacket.

Remove kidney panel, both in and out. I've noticed that the inner panel tends to show through the back of the jacket with time, just like Aero says the inside pocket would, and so much that the jacket starts to look like it actually has a kidney panel so it's best to get rid of it altogether. Or maybe have a rounded one installed? Like on Ridley.
Sorry to dredge up such an old thread, but I thought this was interesting. That future show-through is what is making me unsure of whether to keep the internal panel- does it look bad or is it a nice feature that makes that back look unique? Hmmm... pics, anyone? :)

i can say right now that my 1 year old sheene with the internal panel is visible. it doesn't bother me at all. i know it'll help keep my lining from damage from my belts

So I've owned one of these that popped up in the classifieds here for about 8 months now. It's really a versatile jacket. I would say this and the 30's HB are very close in terms of being the "go to" jacket for daily way. These and a 37 year old Vanson Enfield. All this to say, no matter how you order it, and with any of the leathers that Aero stock, I believe it may well become your favorite as well. Next time around with a Scheene, I'll order through Carrie in Cordovan Heavy CXL Steerhide with olive cotton drill lining, and keep it as basic as possible otherwise.

For more info on mine check here: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/aero-sheene-fan-thread.91163/#post-2282787
