Er, 'Japanese armholes'

How my discussion of Japanese jacket cuts got on to anorexic twinks I'm not sure. Perhaps it was inevitable.

I certainly am not an anorexic twink or pre-teen, and of the styles from Japan I've tried on (mostly Buzz Rickson, Sugar Cane, and Real McCoys), I have not had a problem (my build is lean and athletic). I do think that "big" guys could have an issue with some brands, but Buzz and Sugar Cane have presented infinitely few problems for our sales.

View attachment 101116 View attachment 101117 View attachment 101114 View attachment 101115 Here are some images sent to me by the very helpful Benny's store in Hong Kong of someone my height and weight wearing a 40. The arms look too short but apparently the guy has extra long arms.

What do you think?
Sir Jacket,
What a beautiful jacket that is! I can definitely see why you want one of those. The armholes do look pretty trim but the overall cut of the coat doesn't seem to be too tight or restrictive.

armhole looks normal, I mean not extreme high or extremely narrow, the guy in the picture barely can fill the sleeve with his arm, wider shouldered guy with broader chest and bigger arm would fill it better.

construction and leather looks great

@ Sir Jacket,
Buy it, be prepared to return it.
'Same height and weight' for a Caucasian (for example) and a Han Chinese (I assume) isn't very useful information IMHO.
You might fit it ok though. Who knows.

I was just thinking, are there any bikers here? A good analogy to get your head around the differences in physiology is to think of motorcycle helmets.
Arai and Shoei of Japan make different shape cushioned permanent inserts for helmet shells depending on the different markets where they sell their helmets. In the west it's normally 'long ovoid' whereas in Japan it's 'round'. A 'round' cushioned helmet won't fit me, I need the same size in 'long ovoid' cushioning. Not all westerners are long ovoid, and not all asians are round (and there's one other shape I can't remember), but for the majority of customers in the respective markets, the shape is a better fit.
Maybe that's more relatable than twinks and stuff, I don't know.

Round oval, intermediate oval, and long oval are the shapes im thinking of. Oakley also makes asian fit frames. Thats millions of years of evolution at work making us all a little different.

Well at least yins (showing my pittsburgh origins there) dont have floppy heads like the canadians (southpark reference). Im not sure how they would even begin to wear a helmet.

Yes, his arms are the longest I've ever seen, or maybe it's just the hands... I think he's holding prosthetic hands inside the sleeves.
