Seldom does a man get an awesome high end jacket fit like that without going through the meat grinder and spending a lot of time and cash! Congratulations!!!

Thanks! I keep reading all these dramatic accounts of sending fit-jackets back and forth, talking to people on phones, disappointments, alterations, resales, trying different brands and all that good stuff. It really cements my feeling of being extremely lucky scoring this hide, on a whim, bidding at the last second, and picking it up in person hours later. I eluded the 1-2 month wait times of some jackets by a long shot. It's the most luxurious garment I've ever had in my life, and it just makes me FEEL like such a "badass" or whatever, laugh out loud.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought with my first high-end jacket and then TFL happened. Oh, and welcome, by the way.

My three Vicenzas have gotten increasingly pebblier. But one was blue, the other olive, so no one pays attention to the grain on those ones anyway. ;)

breaking all sorts of forum unspoken rules here, raising a thread from the dead to ask an off topic question! what’s your opinion on the olive and navy? i’m convincing myself on the olive but am slightly concerned it’ll just unworn in the closet!

If it is your only Aero or other nice jacket I would not recommend either as main wearers. I think you’d be happier with browns or a black. Just my 2 cents. Between the two, I think the navy would be a little more versatile. But you probably would want the exotic colors as a supplement color once you get a little collection rolling, not as a main jacket color. I still loved both.

I have a board racer in russet Vicenza. I think the smart thing to do, which my wife advocates, would be to a black J-100 (maybe RMC or Himel)... but I'm tempted by the olive Vicenza or a natural jacket. Was intrigued by the CXL natural because it didn't seem as pink as the other natural jackets I've seen. I don't wonder if worn in it wouldn't end up similar to my Russet jacket worn in thought! I could see myself ending up with a lot of J-100s a few years from now!

Both are great jackets. Depends on your body shape. The RMC has a slightly broad shoulder and slightly short sleeves. The Himel Kensington can be customized. I had the RMC, but replaced it with the Kensington. For my body type (narrow with longer arms), the Kensington is better.

I do like the Kensington, although does the front come to a point at the bottom? I think like you I'd get it with the webbing under the sleeve zippers. I tried on the last RMC that a shop in NY had and was surprised the length worked, although chest size was too big. I was planning on trying one on in London in the summer then let that decide between the Kensington and RMC.... unless I throw that plan to the wind and get the olive Vicenza or a natural Tenjin! I think I've got a bad case of leather jacket fever....

Natural Tenjin would not be a bad choice... they make good jackets
