I have about 25 right now and greatly enjoy most of them my favorite though is easily
Yves Saint Laurent Opium pour Homme. I wear it every chance I get which, living in South Florida, isn't nearly as often as I'd like. Other than YSL OpH, I usually go with ones that are light due to the horrible heat and humidity like Lanvin Oxygene, Bvlgari Aqva Marine, and Versace Blue Jeans.

Today I'm thinking of buying the CREED GREEN IRISH TWEED or the CREED AVENTUS.
Trying to decide which. The Green Irish Tweed seems more popular.

Haven't smelled either so it should be a nice(I hope) surprise.

A scent I personally like a lot is "1954" by Fossil.

It really gives you a feeling of being a "vintage" gentleman of style (hence the firm Fossil, whose slogan is, "Which Vintage Are You?").

Oh Lord....

In general I advise against buying high end brands from online discounters. They could be counterfeit old or grey market fragrances. IMO when you go for the gold buy from the source.

Oud. Pure, wild oils distilled from agarwood trees found only in far-flung (to me) dense forests in India, Cambodia, Malaysia, and China, among others. Each region imparts different accords and profiles, based on the species of wood. They vary from (and this is a generalization) 'barnyard' Hindis, sweeter Cambodians, resinous Malay, bittersweet Chinese orange peel, to fruitier Thai or Borneo. Most have sillage and projection that morphs into a deep, woody, soapy, boozy haze.

Oud has been a staple since ancient times in the Middle and Far East, but it may be jarring to Western sensibilities.

BEWARE: It's an addictive and expensive pursuit! The full bottles (3ml) are pricey. You could shell out $100-$200+ per millimeter. But, you're good to go with only a tiny dot/dab on each wrist.

Clubman Pinaud Special Reserve aftershave/cologne. This is not the golden aftershave product that is found in practically every barbershop in America, though I use that for actual aftershave. This is a dark rum-colored concoction with, I'm told, hints of leather and tobacco to it. Certainly it's stronger and longer-lasting than the regular aftershave. At $7.95 for a 6 oz. bottle, it will hardly break me.

Over the years, I've tried a number of scents with "vintage" pedigrees. However, since companies tend to use use alternative ingredients or completely reformulate over time, I have no idea whether any of them maintain their original character.

By far my favorite is Christian Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum, which I wear daily. It has been around since the 1950s or '60s and, apparently, is one of the top five men's fragrances sold in France. I also like Acqua di Parma Colonia. Supposedly this was a favorite of Carry Grant, and has been around since at least the 1930s.

Other "vintage" labels I've tried but didn't particularity care for because of price, lack of staying power, or personal preference: Knzie Ten, supposedly Humphrey Bogart's signature scent; Dunhill for Men, mentioned as James Bonds' preferred scent in at least one Ian Fleming novel; and Pour un Homme de Caron, which has been around since 1934.

For 20 plus years I've used L'Occitane Vetyver. About four years ago they were discontinuing it so I called around and found four bottles left locally. I have 3/4 of the last bottle left. I'll order the Eau des Baux Eau de Toilette. Closet replacement possible. Woodsy scent only for me. I can still remember my high school buddies drowning themselves in Jade East...….I'm still sick to my stomach when I remember back.

I'm still looking for an unperfumed aftershave - I want that post-shave sting-and-seal affect without a scent. I gave up on wearing anything with a smell to it around about the same time as I became old enough to shave daily. Seems I'm in an unprofitable minority, though, as no such product has ever manifested on my radar. Sticking to the alum block for now.

Simply use a water based face cream. I never understood the alcohol sting unless it was to close off pores to stop bleeding. Moisturizer works just as well.
