Yep, that's the same model I pounced and made an Indy hat out of. That is a Poet, albeit the shaggy variety. I'd do it again, but only if it was already my size.

Oh man! You guys are kidding right?
Someoen would actually put that much time into a pimp hat to make it look like an Indy hat. I think it would just be cheaper to go buy the Poet. :p Too much work.
I suppose you could singe it quite easily but the pouncing could take weeks.

Regards to all,

J

Not for me.

I agree sure looks like a Pimp hat to me.

I have seen others like it at another hatters site. Bright hairy colors. If you don't like that finish he'll spends days and days pouncing it for you all by hand and even wear out a pair of his jeans from sanding.

If you believe that BS i'm 10 feet tall.

This the result of the one I bought. It is a little work. Somewhere out there are vintage shorthair Poets. Getting one like that would be a real find. Sounds like I'm talking about dachshunds.

I worked on it a couple hours a night after work for about four days, I think. No magic, anyone could do it. I think Herbert Johnson commisioned these hats as part of the mod fashion movement in the late 60s, early 70s. Swinging London, Carnaby Street, and all that. Something Austin Powers might have worn with his paisley and stripes. They already had the Poet style, so they had a company in France supply them with the shaggy rabbit fur shells, and voila, the shag Poet. So far I've seen them in blue, purple, brown and the black that's for bid now. They sold for 75 guineas new, if I remember correctly. The dachshund reference was an attempt at humor. Sorry.
