When a hat like this shows up in size 7 3/4 (62) for that cheap I don't think, I just buy it. I also bought three straw hats for the same seller.

I can't argue with this, 'cause I'm very much the same way.
I suppose the only fair comparison would be to do a side by side of a Camel rabbit and beaver but I only have the rabbit. However, I do have, from Mike, a Winchester rabbit from a long ways back in the days before his shop, a newish FEPSA rabbit and now the Winchester Camel rabbit. In terms of quality and likeability I would rank them, early rabbit then the FEPSA (cost me the same as a Winchester beaver due to Mike's cost on the felt) and finally the new Camel. I asked Mike to make this hat with a soft hand which he did brilliantly and it is superior to the other two and much more so than his early Winchester. Even placing this new rabbit next to two of his beaver hats it compares favourably. And this is more than the "cheap" me speaking as I really think this Camel hat is stellar even if it is a lowly bunny.

To be honest, initially I found the exchange with Tim difficult; completely my problem and had absolutely nothing to do with him. The first contact or two were done through the message system here on The Lounge, but once he got started everything was done via cell phone--a couple of calls, and several texts. I have to admit it's an efficient system and, unless things have changed, Tim provided photos every step of the way to make sure I was satisfied with his work. But I hate phones--always have, probably always will--and the thought of so much texting was initially off-putting for me. Tim's relaxed demeanor made it easy for me, and I quickly found our exchanges to be pleasant rather than torturous, so the "ordeal" of all of that texting back-and-forth only existed in my mind.
Also, since we're discussing custom hats that are made-to order, even with a website there would have to be a great deal of back-and-forth through phone calls, texts, and/or e-mails, so I don't see much benefit to a website that only serves to show the hatter's previous work when you can do that just as easily in the various threads here and on "social" websites like Instagram. *shrug*
Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.
I've nothing against any hatter and for the most part, think we are so blessed to have so many damned good hatters that are here on the Lounge, yet I have been more than pleased with anything purchased from the hatters I have purchased from and have owned a few customs that had been "prior owned" hats. Esther made both myself and Daniel, custom hats that are just amazing, and I have purchased three customs from Tim. I've also had our BOND (Scott) refurb a hat or two and he is amazing at what he does.
That is a very nice looking hat, I like the finish on the inside, as well as how this one looks, sort of like from one of the Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns...Total impulse buy. Anyone know anything about this hat?

Yes I sure understand when a person likes to wear a certain type of hat, it is not the same if another type or style comes along, do you wear it, or no....but that hat is so sharp looking, other people are going to look and think you are as sharp as ever wearing it. Now if that hat was a horrid looking hat, then well....I'd say convert it or...just shoot it! LOL! But really that is a very good looker...try it and see what's shakin'.....!Does this mean I'll look like a young Clint Eastwood in this hat? I'd take that.
Honestly, this hat is way out of my comfort zone but in that condition and for the price, I had to do it. I also believe that we should all step out of our well-worn grooves from time to time and try new things. Just don't laugh when I post photos wearing it.
I am sure a few loungers would have some intel on that hat brand, but not me...never owned one of those yet here in our home.
I'm getting there slowly, and I would love a website, because I too see the value. I can't hide behind the fact, that, due to extreme circumstances, I'm struggling to get there. That is to include, everything across the board meaning me, getting by, just living.
It depends on what you are looking for. And if the body is in my available stock; or, what's on hand at Winchester. Just a for instance. Navy Blue in Staple, is on back order and will likely be 5 weeks until available.
most high quality fedoras come open crown... or at least they used to when hats we of much better quality than they are now
Brian's could be as well; "fashion" was very much an "anything goes" affair in those days, possibly more so than at any other time in recorded history. Maybe they both borrowed them from Anita Pallenberg (she left Jones for Richards in March of 1967).
