Question on Korean War Era flight jacket patches

Hi all,

Hoping someone with more knowledge than me can help.

I have a RM L-2b Plain Flight jacket and was thinking of purchasing an appropriate patch for the Korean War Era. The Jacket does not have the USAF patch on the sleeve.

I have started to do some reasearch on years of service and branches that used the L-2b. From what I can tell both USAF and the USN pilots wore that jacket. However, I am not sure if that the USN used the jacket in Korea.

I have seen a couple of different patches that seem to match but not sure and I am continuing to read up on it.

USN- VF192 Flying Dragons
USAF- 319th FIS

Any help or suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

Hi pmegs,

The L-2B was an USAF only jacket. The USN didn't had nylon flight jacket at the time, only the G-1 leather jacket with fur collar. The 319th FIS patch would suit perfectly well. You need to find a repro version of the one that was worn back then, and sew it on the left chest.

What other questions do you have on the subject?
