Time to rejoin the Federation. I threatened to do it and I did. I got the Fed IV in moonstone. I had the Indy brown before, but I never clicked with it and sold it. But I love grey and have been very happy with my Stylemaster. But seeing a Fed IV in the wild recently reminded me of the glories of a robust crown. So I decided to try again. Since I'm in a slightly better financial position, I went for the deluxe felt and expedited shipping. So less than a week later, here we are. Nothing you haven't seen a million times, right? But somehow it never gets old.

Suits you very well, Dave. My favorite Akubra color.

^ China with Alan Ladd, Secret of the Incas with Charlton Heston, the Indiana Jones franchise with Harrison Ford, and countless other movies; pair a quality fedora with a leather jacket and you can't go wrong, especially if you're a rugged looking guy.

That aside, I've never seen a hat with creases on the sides like that. I'm not yet sure if I like it, but I don't dislike it and I do like the way they give the crown that squared-off appearance. Nicely done; you might have just started a new trend in hat creasing!

Thanks, Al.

I have to admit that I got the idea elsewhere for the side creases. I don't know that it'll become a 'thing,' but I figure if they're good enough for those hats, then I can give it a try, as well. It is definitely unusual, but the effect, especially in person, is quite dramatic, and I like it, which is all that really counts, right?

The jacket is fairly new, too. Got it a couple of weeks ago, as the exact model I have one size smaller actually fits me, but I like things a little bit big - always been that way.

I love this jacket and haven't taken it off except to shower.

Once I stopped growing, I found myself being between sizes; "Large" (or any shirts/jackets of that approximate size) is regularly too snug for my tastes, so I go up a size. I prefer a looser fit myself, but sometimes I look like I'm wearing someone else's clothes. :p

The first one I bought is a 42. Looks like it fits according to everyone that has seen me in it, but it feels too 'close.'

The new one in the picture is a 44. Tbh, I'd probably be best off with a 43, but odd sizes don't exist in off-the-rack.

It sounds to me like we're of the same mindset when it comes to jackets, especially leather jackets. Others have said a particular jacket looks right on me at a certain size, but to me it feels like a straitjacket. I want room to move comfortably, especially in the shoulders, so if that means the jacket/shirt/whatever looks a little large on me, so be it.

Yep, that's it, to the letter.

Is that grey the carbon grey? The brown looks like an arrowhead dent, looking good.

Johnny

Yes, the gray is the carbon gray.

Last night I redid the crown again.

I pushed the rear point a little lower, the side points a little wider and deeper, lowered the front pinch and tightened the top front, domed the center, and accentuated the side creases a bit.

I hadn't realized there was a dent called arrowhead, but looking at the brown hat, I see what you mean. To me it was just a diamond with an exaggerated rear end. ;)
