This is the best one, so get on it.
Stetson 7x Clear Beaver Open Road
Size 7 1/2 Long Oval
The best production hat Stetson ever turned out.
Some may argue the 100 was better, but handle both, and see what you think.
Nearly perfect, there are two small moth nips that are so thin that the wind trolley string hides them.
The hat comes with the box I received it in- certainly a box for an expensive Stetson, but it’s cardboard and the paper-hinged lid is just hanging on. You can choose to upgrade to the Stetson 100 box in the next post - but it will cost extra. See that post for a full explanation of your box options.

$600 shipped in the US

My size! This is less than the cost of refilling the propane I lost in a leak last week. Crap, crap, crap ...

Listen to the man.
I’ve got a buyer with 3 hats on the way to him and I’m allowing him to poach the pile (3 more possibles) because he’s spent a lot with me. Only one of those six hats made it to the “sales floor.”
Buy it this weekend and it will be in the mail on Monday.

Early to mid-50s Stetson Stratoliner. It appears to be deadstock. Do not confuse this with Stetson’s modern garbage.

I bought it at an estate sale and have never worn it for more than a few minutes, as it’s a bit small for me.

There are a couple of light marks, all in the photos - one in the dent, and a couple on the crown. They are very light/shallow and appear to be more like rub marks than moth tracks.

Tagged a 7 3/8

2 5/8” brim 5 3/4” crown

No hat box $325 shipped

- I might be able to provide a Stetson box with this, but I don’t have a Stratoliner box.

One of the perks of getting a Stetson Stratoliner was the small metal airplane pin that came with it. TWA’s new plane was modern and dynamic, and so was Stetson’s new hat. In an advertising blunder for the ages, the Stetson came with a DC-3 pin, not a pin depicting the Stratoliner plane. Purists are split - to wear the pin that’s true to the hat, or the one that should have come with it? I chose to have both. The DC-3 is on the right.

These are originals, and not the (at first, plastic and now whatever) repros that modern Stetson is putting on their substandard nonsense. $35 each, $60 for the pair, or $50 for the pair if you buy them with the Stratoliner hat I have for sale.

I knew you were a super good person. Not hard to figure that out about you and look how long you have been around on the Lounge. It is sad that in our household right now we are on a "diet budget" because all these large hats would look terrific in our home.

You are showing a lot of love, here with these treasures....

Stetson “The Avenue” Excellent Quality derby/bowler 7 5/8 (per reorder tag behind the sweat).
The Panama International Exposition medal liner, and the other expo liners, was a regular feature of Stetson’s best hats from the late teens to the end of the twenties.
As shown, there’s minimal scratching to the crown, but the hat is in otherwise great shape.
Modern derbies can not touch the D’Orsay curl on the brim of the classics.
$140 shipped in the US - no hat box

John B Stetson 50 years in business commemorative medal that, I believe, was made into a watch fob. I have four of these, two with loops added and two without. It’s taken me close to twenty years to find four of them. They are surprisingly heavy.

Easy to date at 1915, this was awarded to - I love this - W. Ankins, who began his hands-on employment with the company in 1911.

I’ll list another hat shortly. If you’re on the fence, get off. Hats that don’t sell here or on Instagram will go to eBay as BIN only with a price increase and no free shipping to cover the fees.

1930s Stetson No. 1 Quality with that oh-so-hot pencil curl brim

7 5/8 High and Wide, this is a real western hat

It proudly wears all of the scars of a rugged life. There’s a little mothing up top, but the real damage is below. The underside of the brim is a moonscape. The sweat was dried and cracking, and didn’t respond well to the leather conditioner I applied a number of years ago. While soft most of the way around, the leather in the forehead area succumbed to salt and is badly cracked and stiff.

This hat is certainly wearable, and I’d make the original sweatband fall out before I ever replaced it, but don’t think for a minute that you’re getting some fancy country music star hat here. This is a sun stoppin’, skeeter swattin’, roll in the mud with the big dogs kind of hat. This hat is about glory.

I find it to be a snug, but not tight fit for a 7 1/2, so I think it would be fine for a 7 3/8. Of course, I’m all about angles for fit. To me, there’s no need for a perfect, level fit. If a hat is a bit big, I tip it back on my head and bend the brim forward. If it’s a bit small, I wear it level, or even forward, and tip it to my right.
Shoes need to fit just right; for me, hats do not.

Brooks Brothers with Cavanagh edge, size 7 1/2

Thick, substantial, hearty. That cav edge anchors one hell of a knocking-around hat. HatCo bow on the sweat, perfect oxidation on the reed, and that dissolved onion skin staining on the liner - so common to the 40s and 50s hats - make this a favorite. Light staining on the crown shown in a pic.

Pumpkin not for sale. $150 shipped in the US for the hat.

The f**king crown in 7 3/8

Musketeer facial hair isn’t necessary to style a hat this fine. Hat City Hat Co. long-hair/velour/satin finish 7 3/8 in incredible condition for such a fine 70-80 year old hat that COMES WITH the Dobbs Golden Coach box and book on the history of the city of Danbury.

Danbury and Norwalk Ct were THE hat making cities in the US. If it wasn’t a Stetson, and it was made in the US, it was made here. Good luck finding a vintage hat this fine. Good luck having a custom hatter make you a hat with 80 year old felt and the history that this crown carries. $600 shipped in the US
