Thanks for the review Tony. I think I'll take the plunge and order a glider at least. That should get me several indulgences even if the chair isn't exactly as I'd like. Sounds like I'm not going to be disappointed though.

I need to paint the chairs and they’re good as ever!.
Here’s an old friend that is coming apart but I can't bear to throw it away.
The base metal is in great condition.

The single chair was easy enough for one person to assemble. I'm guessing an extra set of hands will come in, um, handy with the double glider.
Instructions aren't as clear as they could be, but even I (I'm no kind of mechanic) made sense of them, not that there's anything other than intuitive in assembling one. The gliders would be more complicated.
Can't complain about Torrans's service. Ordered on Sunday night, got immediate email acknowledgement of the order. Budget shipping via UPS Ground. Went out Monday. Got here Wednesday. A complete extra set of hardware included.
Check out the closeouts and seconds. Lower than half price. I got a closeout, but I'd certainly consider a factory second. I can live with a scratch on a piece of outdoor furniture.

In my old close-in city neighborhood is a cluster of eight or ten little cottages much like these, built in the 1910s or '20s, I'd guess, judging from the craftsman architecture. The little structures -- 300-square-feet per, tops, probably more like 275 -- face a common walkway that runs perpendicular to the street. Picket fences. Window boxes. Real pleasant. Looks like they're a century ahead of their time.

I ate supper at Moody's Diner Monday night. Pastrami and swiss on rye and an orange soda. The place is pretty much unchanged by the years, except the pay phone is disconnected and carries a sign reading "FOR NOSTALGIC PURPOSES ONLY."
I stayed in a Moody's cabin maybe thirty years ago, and it was like a scene out of "It Happened One Night." I don't believe they've changed any since then -- bare wooden shanties with cold running water. If you're cold at night, put on another blanket.

We have a women's conservation society that takes care to preserve locations
in my city.
You don't want to mess with them!
Luckily, there's many surrounding small towns with local cabins & diners.
There's a huge gathering of antiques that
runs for miles with folks coming from all parts in April.
Sometimes I come home empty handed, but as a consolation I always stop at the local diner.
Their chicken-fried steak, mash taters,gravy, peas & corn bread is yummylicious!
The homemade peach pie or bread pudding is worth the trip!

We're fortunate to still have some old school, southern cooking mom and pop restaurants around...I frequent them quite often, especially for their version of the big-as-your-face chicken fried steak dinner, smothered in that sawmill gravy. [emoji106][emoji16]

One of my favorite breakfast at the local
Mexican diner is thin fried pork chops
with eggs over easy smothered in "Pico de Gallo" (chopped hot peppers, onions,tomatos) side order of refried beans and hot homemade flour tortillas.
This is the only time, I will enjoy the hot
coffee served in thick coffee cups.
But I have a chilled Dr. Pepper or Coca-Cola in glass bottles for back up!
