1940s pinup dress?

I'm taking my girlfriend to Duxford flying legends. I'll be dressed in pinks and an A-2 ,so I thought I'd surprise her with a beautiful 1940s dress that she could wear. Problem is: I have no idea where to find one. Any recommendations please?

I can't help, but I would ask the question in the Front Parlor forum above. I think it will likely be seen by more people who can steer you in the right direction. One or more of the ladies might take pity on a gentleman who wants to do a nice thing for his girl.

Over the years, my girlfriend has bought from some vintage sites and even found a dressmaker who works from vintage patterns (for a surprisingly reasonable price) - but all that takes time. However, she also has found some vintage-echoing dresses from this company:

The dress arrived from ebay, looks pretty. Now I'll try to get her twin sister to try it on secretly so that I can have it adjusted before her birthday.

Greg, I understand you, once I myself went through this. It was for one airshow 6 or 7 yars ago.
I also found vintage dress for my wife on eBay. Thank God it was not expensive, because she wore it once only.

Other funny photographs show the men running up steps as their dresses blow in the wind and show off their under garments on stage in 1940. Banned pictures reveal the Christmas charity performance by home defence troops which was interrupted by a coastal alert forcing the troops to wear dresses in the field with their compulsory helmets.
