I wish the Arcadia was my size. It's absolutely stunning! It also has a very nice lining and the old label although totally unrelated to the lining or jacket is nice to see.

Ah, but 42 is the answer...
Yes my little grasshopper. And to some, a used 46 Californian Ventura is the answer.

WTB

California Sportwear Series: "Californian" Ventura
Leather: veg-tanned aniline wax-finish seal brown horsehide
Zippers: riveted #10 nickel zipper, like early 1930s Talons
Lining: wool with vintage-style dull green-black pattern
Size 46

:)

Peace

Yeah, the 42 russet goatskin sure looks nice. Just a bit too small. Someone mentioned that I am the same size as John, and should be able to pick up a used jacket. Still looking!

May I suggest that you contact John directly and explain what you’re looking for, should one come up as a return?

Hey Doc
Great Idea. I am sure John has plenty of emails to answer. However, I did enquire about the GoodWear/Himmel Racer's some time ago, and he responded promptly and was very courteous. Bet he is a cool guy.

Yes, he is busy, but when he has time he replies.
If you’re looking to be put on a ‘wants’ list it’s probably the best route.

Just dropped him a quick email. Thanks for the recommendation. Ya never know, could be a 46 out there someplace with my name on it.

Peace

DD has just launched a new jacket with patterns made up by John. I'm not sure how people four years into their two year wait are going to feel about that use of his time.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I had a pretty thorough email from John explaining the delay on my jacket.

His button hole machine from the 70s has died and he tried to get it fixed but couldn’t get it working reliably after a number of repair attempts. He now replaced it with another antique machine instead.

There has also been a delay on the Shinki I’m interested in as the first batch was not the finish he ordered or wanted.

So maybe he used the time when he couldn’t do anything else to finalise some stuff with DD?

Incidentally, JC produced his first United Sheeplined jacket in 2010 (http://www.goodwearleather.com/photos/UnitedSheeplined_No1_46/).
The pattern is a new venture for DD, but I don’t believe that this is what John has been developing in the interim.
As has been said, JC has explained to customers in the lengthier parts of the queue that there have been trials and tribulations with vintage sewing machines (breakdowns, transportation damage, replacement, setup, etc.).

@ProteinNerd, glad to hear it. Must surely be easier to explain this stuff once on the GW website that have to contact each customer individually though.

@Dr H, that makes sense. Still, DD is clueless about how he comes across, so I'm not surprised that minor, though highly relevant, detail didn't occur to him.
