I like the Ken repro more than the Earhart jacket, but I think that I'd get the pockets swapped for handwarmers. I'd like to see how the collar looks in more detail, though.

Congrats on the new jacket, Sloan! I, too, am somewhat jealous of the ability you have to almost walk next door to try these on, though I think I'd break down pretty easily living that close to Aero and not being able to buy everything I want!

And the mug has been ordered already...

It really is a burden and a boon - it's very hard to walk out empty handed. The mugs are very cool, btw, and a decent size as well, they're not expresso thimbles!

I like it! It's a better fit than most Bootleggers I've touched, ok that's only been one, and it's on my back in my avitar.

I also dig that rug! That's a great contrast and I really understand how it sets off the jacket.

These two new styles are neat, not quite for me but should be great additions to the line-up soon.

Beautiful jacket. Congrats. It might be interesting if you could update us every few weeks and show us the way the jacket breaks in. We often see jackets when they're first purchased and not again until they're sold. The BL's a design that seems to demand seeing it after it's fairly well along the road. Just a thought.

@Sloan1874 any chance of a pic of it open? It's hard to articulate what I'm looking for but on my STF Bootlegger, the distance between the zip and the actual "edge" of the jacket on the side that goes under or inside when done up, is quite large....leads to a significant overlap when doing it up. I've seen some standard bootleggers and other Double Riders that don't seem to have as much overlap as mine.

Does that make sense?

I just measured both my size 42 and they both have 1.5" from corner edge to the vertical fold.
Both have a very different corner though. One is rounded, the other is square.

I've been curious as the distance is much smaller on my ELMC Roadstar as you can see below but I guess while they are similar, they are different patterns.

The ELC seems to have a steeper 'rake' on the zip. Do you think the larger overlap makes any difference to the overall fit?

From memory (I have owned examples of both designs, but am currently several thousand miles away from them!), the ELMC jacket is indeed a steeper rake, whereas the Aero is more straight up and down. Of course, the similarity between the two is fairly superficial - the Aero i, ultimately, a halfbelt with a dobuled-over front, whereas the ELMC here is a D-pocket bike jacket with a belted hem. Again, from memory, the ELMC Roadstar D pocket type is a very slightly shorter jacket as well.

I would have thought the only difference it makers in practice would be the wider windflap in the Aero means les chance of a draft through the zip, but really that sort of thing is so minimal ultimately that it's more a cosmetic difference than anything, imo.

The main different to the fit in my opinion, is when the jacket is worn open. The 2 "panels" or sides of the bootlegger are wider if that explains it. That is, as there is more overlap on the bootlegger, each side is wider. Lol I'm really struggling to explain this one!

OK, that’s enough reading this thread. I just dashed to the Aero website and pulled the trigger on a Bootlegger STF in Russet Vicenza, with the listed specs that amazingly match all my measurement. Further matching my wish are the zip sleeves, antiqued brass hardware, Locharron Tartan Lining and an added coin pocket. WTF. I had to pinch myself.

The coin pocket is an interesting addition, which significantly transforms the look, for such a small addition. Gives it a bit more of that stripped-back Perfecto-type vibe, which is pretty cool. If Aero offered armour pockets as a bolt-on option, that would be hard to beat as a motorcycle jacket.
