So how long have they been running the "City of NewOrleans" as a deluxe Pullman?
I remember taking that train back and forth to college in the late 70's.
Nothing luxurious about it then ...

These are restored private cars coupled to the rear of the City. No need to mingle with the usual Amtrak coach class riff-raff.

This is a wonderful thread. My best wishes to you and your beautiful lady.

The orient express has always been a fascinating topic for me as well, complete with a wardrobe plan :)

Ohmygosh! I would LOVE to take a trip like this! I wonder if there is anything like tis in the States???

Early on in this thread, I explained that we had originally intended to travel on this train to Vienna, that was back in 1993, our silver wedding anniversary, but a serious road collision prevented that. I wondered, if we are still around in four years from now, we might reconsider that plan for our golden wedding anniversary.

Then someone we visit often in Savannah GA sent us this link.
Pullman Journeys, USA.
Now that's got to be worth considering. Even if it's not steam hauled.

The UK version of the Orient Express came on the branch line next to my office yesterday, sadly did not get the camera out in time, it was the noise from the 2 Deltec diesels that made me look out of the window.

This is a generic picture I found on the net, but it will give you idea of what past my little office window

May 4th 2018 is our golden wedding anniversary. A few months ago I had a hip replacement, recovery from that has made planning our celebration a tad awkward. We have a couple of dinner dates with friends over the next couple of days. However, 50 years of marriage is worth celebrating, to that end I've booked us on a Dragon Rapide biplane flight over London. We shall also dine on a pullman hauled by Flying Scotsman, both of those events will be in a few weeks time, then in late September, we are flying to Boston. New England in the Fall is one of our bucket list wishes, so we hope to be Stateside come the Autumn. I will post a few photos and maybe one of the bride and groom back in 1968. But for now, I'm just so very proud that she has put up with me for the last 50 years.
