It's an exact replica of the perfect year IMHO. More casual than my Imperial, I imagine it as my grab and go jacket.

Excellent topic for our wonderful forum.
Never tried to stop at one.
The weather in my country is so changeable and diverse that you can have many different jackets and they will all be in demand.
My childhood hobby - aviation and the aviation history (at first aircraft model kits , after flying jackets) certainly left an imprint and thank God the planes eventually became my job last 25 years ....and most of mine jackets now are flight jackets from different countrys and eras.
I have many different jackets (flights and field and just civil), some I sold because I bought those that fit me better. Some are connected with certain memories (for example, a jacket that was with me during the war when I was 20... or the jackets of my friends and colleagues who are no longer with us). Some of them will not fit me now, but I will never sell them because of memories.
But most of my jackets, including leather and field ones, suits me just fine and I do not think it makes sense for me to look for a one Grail.

I only need the one. I wear the same clothes day in, day out, and have done for years. I buy the jeans and t-shirts in bulk, but for the more interesting stuff, boots and jackets and hats, I replace when absolutely required. My OCD hits top gear and I spend weeks, months, researching and comparing, weighing up all the options before I finally buy exactly what I want. Then I wear it every day until it's no longer remotely serviceable. It's all for me, I don't care what others think or how I look. I know a great drive for me is my hatred of the disposable. I write with a fountain pen. I use a Zippo. If there's something that can be refilled or refreshed, I'll always choose to do so rather than use a disposable. And I love patina. I buy, use and wear quality because it lasts. It lasts long enough to develop patina and often lasts so long it's less expensive than buying the many disposable items that would otherwise be required over its lifetime. But the patina is the soul, it becomes my old friend, wearing and aging together. My friends wear things like tracksuit jackets, but to me it's like they're wearing a plastic bag; too new to have a soul, yet already falling apart at the seams; not worn and weathered, but already shabby; too bright and marketed, yet unenthused and generic. Disposable. I found the Lounge when I was looking for a new town hat; came back when I needed a new jacket and dug deeper. I'm so impressed and respectful of the culture here; the depth of knowledge and the care of the subject, without the "one up manship" so common in the world today. It's a special place.

I'm with you. My last barn jacket was an LL Bean, and I wore the thing until my elbows were sticking out. It had a decade of manure and lamb birthing fluids crusted on it, and I loved that jacket. It had a stain on it that was from Spokie's difficult birth years ago, and I cherished it. Never washed it - it would have been like erasing memories. I couldn't bear to throw it away, so I gave it to Betty the Barn Cat for a bed. I think she loves it as much as I did. If you're not a farmer, you can't appreciate it.

I apologize if I've offended anyone. I'm sure, though, the bomber pilots who wore the original bomber jackets in WWII, or Korea, or Vietnam felt the same way. Every oil stain, I would bet, had a story, and they wouldn't have traded it for anything. The beauty of the A-2s and G-1s is that they survive us, and end up on the Ebay market. Just remember that when you buy one of those jackets - every scratch and mar has a story.

Dave sent me pictures of a jacket he did for a customer recently. My favorite of the jackets he has done so far. I'll ask him if I can post some pictures of it. I'm most curious about this new make.

I have one Hercules reproduction deep in my closet. I might have to get it out with all this talk of the Hercules.

Well when I say bulk, I guess I mean lots of 5 to 10. Jeans I'm not real picky on, I like black and cheap. If I find a good set I just buy 5 of them straight off. Though recently I went too cheap and the front pickets fell out. T-shirts these days I buy in lots of 10 off EBay. I find Gildan brand OK, generally between $5 - $6 AUD a unit if I buy the 10 packs. I've had no quality issues so far with them, decent threadcount and cut. It frustrates my wife no end when they arrive. "Did you just buy 10 green t-shirts? All exactly the same? Again?" Ha!! I figure if I go to the trouble of finding somerhing that I like at a reasonable price, getting 5 to 10 of them saves me going to the same trouble again 5 to 10 times.

I have 45 identical black men's shirts and 35 black Gildan T-shirts. 10 pairs of Wranglers. 5 identical black fine marino sweaters, 6 pairs of identical Rossi/Blundstone boots. I own no sports clothes or running shoes. I wish I knew of some high quality black t-shirts for around $10 each.
