.....although 2jakes likes the modern phones over the older landline type, I still have the first phone that we had 50 years ago. It too has a clarity that belies it's age.

Please don't misunderstand!
I like the versatility of my iPhones,
but love the candle stick phone which
I have and is a reminder of the ones
my grandmother used in her home.

Yeah, I hear you.

I was (still am, actually) a big of Carl Barks stories in the classic Disney comics (Donald Duck & Scrooge McDuck shorts and, especially, the longer adventure stories). In the late 1980s Don Rosa took over the writing of adventure stories but, somehow, they weren't the same. Too many modern gags and subject matters. Gave up reading the modern tales. Goodness knows who does the stories nowadays.

On a similar note, Max Fleischer's 30s toons especially the ones with surreal tones (Bimbo's Initiation) along with the Superman cartoon serials where the hero
resembled more the early crude drawings
of the original Superman Action Comics
of '39.
I believe Bud Collyer provided the voice
which went from a soft-spoken mild-mannered Clark Kent
to a powerful he-man tone as Superman!
