I didn’t realize when I bought it that this hat was going to be so diminutive - the crown is less than 5 1/2 inches and the brim is 2 1/4 - much smaller than I typically prefer.

However the felt is very nice and the inside is super clean and my head stayed warm and dry so I’ll keep him handy for future rainy days.

I learned my lesson, though, to always ask about brim sizes if they aren’t posted...

The hat does need a good steam bath to iron out some wrinkles, but that will have to wait another week until I get home.

Size 56 with a bound brim at 5,5cm and crown at 9,5cm at the pinch. The colour is lovely and the hat fits me like a dream. Must be the "head-eez leather" they pride themselves on. It has a few nicks here and there and the head-eez leather is not all that durable because the sweat has come away from the reed in one spot, but the hat is extremely wearable; goes with anything and fits so well it's stormproof. Traces of a feather showed up when I brushed it (must have been in vaudeville at one stage of its career) and I think it had an onionskin covering of the liner in the past.

This one actually cleaned up nicely. The little brown flecks are not from a missing onionskin on these hats. There was a plastic (?) barrier under the sweat which would not age well typically. My first encounter with this phenomenon was with a Lee back bow from 1955. The hat was full of little brown flakes, turning out the sweat revealed the origin, a deteriorating plastic sweat protecting barrier.

Just to reinforce the comments about embossing sweats no matter the size of the retailer, I grew up in Carrollton, MO which in its heyday grew to a population of 4,000 residents. There was a long time clothier for men & women on the square named Dickson's but I honestly don't remember Williams Clothing Co. It was probably gone before I was old enough to know it.

It would be interesting to know how this hat found it's way to Oregon.

The hat has a 4" brim and opened up to a near 7" crown. The stamps show "Made in Ecuador" and I just about went blind doing a weave count but it come out to about 500 wpsi. It has a nice roan sweat and a wire reinforced brim. Overall, I'm pretty happy. Just gotta decide on a final shape. The first two pics show it as it arrived.
