Thank you, Jared. I did look at the link you provided, and I do have some woodworking skills. I'll look more into making something like that. Thank you again for your comment and suggestion.

Antelope/suede in wine. I went with an underwelt brim this time. It’s nice to have options.

I want the next one to be in velour just to see how the felt compares. I’m thinking of one in navy...I have a thing for blue hats. After the velour I think I’ll be done for a while as I tend to other irons in my hat fire.

Yep. I considered another color to mix it up, but in the end charcoal works best for so many applications. It’s a fine color for cool and warm tones and it isn’t as harsh as black yet it offers wonderful contrast. I have more charcoal ribbons than any other color.

I like the 2 inch wide soft leather sweat and the gauze like cotton liner that keeps things very breathable. It fit my 57.5 long oval head perfectly. I'm very pleased with this hat.

Wine antelope/suede finish rabbit fur felt with charcoal ribbon. The hat has a nicely executed underwelt brim.

Second hat: Antelope/suede finished rabbit fur felt in “Iron” with a nice dull blue ribbon. I was hoping the felt would be closer to Winchester’s “steel,” but this iron is much darker. I asked for a bit stingier brim and an underwelt. This felt is much firmer than the wine I listed earlier.

The felt is more of a dark charcoal. I’ll admit that I was initially disappointed in how dark the felt was. It’s just enough lighter than black to be noticeable. It’s growing on me, but I’m not sure I would have ordered this color if I knew how dark it was.

Both of the hats have supple sweats and are nicely finished. Great job from Agnoulita.

I like Luisa and her hats very much. She is very nice and easy to work with. I do not think the fur felt is as heavy and soft as an Akubra but I did like the style of her Homburgs much better than theirs. It is closer to the one Al Pacino wore as Michael Corleone. I don't think the felt is as soft as the Beaver Brand Homburg or the Stetson Temple that I own but overall I like her hats and plan to order more. I also bought a white fedora when I bought the homburg and that is also something that Akubra does not offer. So I recommend her but I am a newbie at this fur felt business and am not that picky. If you visit Etsy you will see she offers quite a nice selection of hats and colors.

All that matter is if you like them. I own a couple of her hats, but in the end we weren’t a very good fit for each other and I stopped ordering from her. There will always be a niche for made to order hats in this price range.

I like to follow my own aesthetic too. Sartorial preferences are not all that important in the big scheme, but I support individuality while also liking conventions that bind us together as a society; there aren’t many of those left.

My favorite hats are probably those that most here wouldn’t look at twice. Just as a suggestion, you might also look at Agnoulita (also on Etsy) as his felts and finish work are substantially better at only a slightly higher price. Just my own limited observations.

I like them both. Do you find the weight of the felt to be lighter than Akubra's. I think the Agnoulita hat I have is a lighter weight. It kind of surprised me at first. However, it probably is a better match for the climate I find myself in.

Thanks, Perry. My experience with Akubra is all over the board. I recently had a Campdraft stolen from my car and I replaced it immediately. They were both the standard grade felt and both in taupe fawn. My first hat was reasonably soft, its replacement is stiff as cardboard. I like Akubra, but my limited experience is they lack consistency. That said, the felt on my Agnoulitas are all of the mid-weight variety. They aren’t true lightweights, but they are lighter than any of my Akubras. I really like their felt in weight, hand, and malleability .

I have Mr. P making me a velour hat as we speak. The weather is not a good match for velour, but I wanted one to compare to his standard rabbit, flecked fur, and antelope/suede finishes that I already own. This should be a heavier winter felt. I’m not sure that I’ll get around to trying one of his longhair felts.
