Eastman B-6: Standard or Rough Wear?

I've finally sold enough old clothing, electronics and general crap that was cluttering up our house to fund a brand new Eastman sheepskin. It's amazing how much money stuff can sell for if you take the time and effort to get rid of it!

To 'reward' myself, I'm going for a B-6. However, I just can't decide between the standard B-6 or the rather beautiful Rough Wear (even if it's not historically accurate)!

Does anybody have either jacket? I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts and photos, particularly if anybody has the Rough Wear. It looks kind of reddy/orange/brown in photos online, but my memory of trying it on in the pop-up shop was that it's more of a mid/light brown colour. Plus it's an extra £200...is it worth it? Hmm, decisions decisions...

I personally love the Rough Wear B-6. It's not only the great reddish color of the leather. It's the great cream color of the fleece. I would totally go for the RW.

And congrats on getting a great jacket whatever you decide!

I have the Roughwear B6 as well and I love it. The photo posted by Deacon211 captured the color just about perfectly (at least on my iPad it did). I live in Northern California where it is almost never cold enough to justify such a jacket but I t’s still one of my favorites.

@El Marro thats one beautiful jacket you’ve got yourself there! What colour would you say it is in real life? That looks more like a shade of mid brown...chimes with the memory I have of trying it on in London!

The jacket is a little lighter in color in natural light, but not much. The color of the shearling came through perfectly in that photo though, it has a rich warm ivory tone.

Just gorgeous. Now I'm torn...I really like both the Roughwear and the standard one. Just not sure if it's worth the extra £200!

Can't beat the 1/4 inch shearling though...I had that Aero B6 with 1/2 inch shearling which was very nice but ultimately too thick for my tastes. It wore and felt more like a B3 - part of the appeal of the B6 is how lightweight and easy to wear it is. I knew once I tried Eastman's version on that I had to have one

Tough decision to make. When I purchased mine I chose the Roughwear because I did not like the contrasting colors of sheepskin and horsehide on the standard edition. Now that I look at the two side by side, they both look pretty damn good to me and I think you would be well served by either one. Good luck!

Both of you guys have great looking B6s. Where I live it gets cold enough to wear a B6, but I have a Thunder Bay I wear in those temps (along with peacoats and a Canada Goose).

I think only you can make the decision on whether it's worth the upcharge. For me, it's not (my preference in a B6 in any case would be the Aero redskin model), but if you've got the money to sink into it and it's always going to bother you if you buy the standard one that it isn't *quite* what you wanted, then it might be worth biting the bullet and shelling out the extra now. One thing's for certain, they're unlikely ever to start charging less than they do now.

I agree with Edward..get what you really want... personally I went D-1 (ELC) rather than B-6..it coped at a quarter inch shearling with the 'Beast from the East'..sold my BOB Irvin type ELC to help fund a Monarch contract A-2..BOB was generally too warm for UK climes
