Taubers of California #175 "Competition Racing Jacket"

We've had off and on showers today, brief bursts of heavy rain. I've been thinking of washing my jacket to try to lengthen the sleeves, which I've felt are about 1"-1.5" short. Instead, I took advantage of the rain, gently tugging down on the sleeves as the leather dampened and softened. This steerhide is definitely tough stuff.

I think the rain treatment is working! I definitely feel I've gained an inch or so at the sleeves. The hems now extend past my wrist bone and hit near the top of my palm. I'll have to measure later to check (hopefully they won't retract). Some softening of the leather at the upper sleeves at the shoulder hems may also be contributing.

And yes, my wife thinks I'm absolutely nuts.

Feeling in love with my 3 oz. Lost Worlds Horsehide J-100. The grain is a thing of beauty. And I love how it feels. And smells. I truthfully wouldn't want it any heavier than this. Considering a Ryder next... View attachment 123338 View attachment 123339 View attachment 123340

Honestly- the 3 oz Lost World's horse is something special.
Perfect 3 oz weight for anything wear including a motorcycle ride, commute to work or a hot date.
I was shocked by the amazing grain after having LW 3.5 and several 4 oz jackets brand new from Stu.
These photos make me cry tears of regret.
I console myself every night with the Aero cafe racer in midnight blue that actually fits me better in the shoulders.

I am considering to re-order the Suburban and Test, hope somebody doing review of their recent jacket.

I've owned several lost worlds in all the weight classes. 4+ Test, right down the scale. Every Test I have seen is 4+.

Check out the pictures of the original Test. Not 4+. Maybe 2.5. I've got jackets from the Test era and they aren't heavy. You can see that in the picture of the original.

I'd like to see a Test made in that 3 oz of lost worlds.
