Someone referenced that Tenjin Works only use steer hides due to way they age/patina. Given it seems like a lot their jackets are natural it got me to wondering, has anyone seen a nicely aged natural horse hide jacket?

Lotuff Leather offer their bags in a natural, vegetable tanned leather. There are pictures of the Day Satchel in this make up on their website.
I asked about this leather, as I'd like their Duffle Backpack, and was told that it's got a U protection coating, which will slow how fast it darkens. They suggested other colours might work better for a daily bag, probably because itlli show up marks easily.
Unfortunately Lotuff aren't cheap. Prices range from about $800 to $1600.

Still pretty new though (less than two weeks I think). Just wondering if there's any aged ones, seems like most of the worn posted jackets have been steer.

Unfortunately it’s not mine. They just posted the pics this past week on Instagram.
The pic is showing 10 days in the LA sun. Look at the difference from the outside vs the inside of the jacket. That’s just 10 days of natural sun exposure. I think they sold out on the pre order

Look out for McNeill leather bags on eBay and Etsy. This German firm used to produce a variety of styles of ‘handmade’ natural leather briefcases with a shoulder strap and backpack straps. Sold prices vary from £9 to over £100 depending on condition and whether the straps are still present (but replacement straps can be re-purposed or made, by cobblers and saddlers). Sadly they only seem to make canvas school bags for kids these days.
This one made £59 but I just got one without straps for £9.

I’m going to mod mine to fit onto a Brompton bike front rack. I’ve got the straps from a canvas McNeill which I’ll cannibalise.
