Good advice!
Gotta keep your eye on the prize, and don't sway from the goal. put a few dollars away at the end of each month, refrain from buying a hat that would just cut it, if you know that your heart is set on one you truly want. and before you know it, you'll have more than enough

The wrong end of Nebraska . . . .
Well, after 3 weeks of delays, "my" Resistol San Antonio finally arrived. One side of the box was smashed in shipping, so it arrived a bit flattened, but it did arrive. . . . I don't really care, since it is not the hat I purchased! The size 7 1/2 5x San Antonio with a 3" brim turns out to be a 7 1/4 Shantung with 3 1/2" brim from the George Strait collection.

The seller says he must have re-used a description and photos from a previous hat, and has kindly offered to refund the purchase price (less 20% re-stocking fee) if I'll pay to return it.

I think I'm done buying hats from anyone who lives farther away than I care to drive to return it.

Dispute with Ebay. I think they will support a full refund with shipping when the error is all on the seller. Wrong hat, wrong size, wrong material is a pretty big error.

Indeed. Do not make any deal with the seller that does not include full refund of purchase price and return shipping. I wouldn't ship back "on credit" at this point either, based on the way he's acting, but would insist on a pre-paid label. I'm no great fan of eBay's policies, but similar things have happened to me a couple of times and they got my money back. I understand that mistakes happen, but fail to understand why sellers think they can rip you off for their mistakes.

Very sorry that you did not get the hat you expected. That's a frustrating let-down.

Was this through eBay (the title of the thread has me confused)? If it was through eBay, do NOT work out a return with the seller. Open a dispute with eBay and you will get a full refund including your shipping (no restocking fees) and you will get free return shipping. Always go through eBay and not some side deal with the seller. I’ve been where you are way too often.

I'm off to Amazon to buy a boonie hat: no style, no class--but the dang thing will fit, and keep my scalp from getting sunburned.

Sorry I added to the confusion; for some reason I thought this was an eBay purchase (guess I didn't read the thread title clearly enough!). I still offer the same advice, though: if you paid with a credit card, you can contest the purchase through them. Same if you used Paypal, unless you fell for the "friends and family" gimmick, then you're out of luck.

I've looked at many hats advertised as "size 7-3/4", with the tape measure showing 7-3/4" front to back inside the sweatband as "proof"! When I question them further some become defensive and tell me it most certainly indeed is a size 7-3/4 (sometimes with a "1/4" tag clearly showing in the picture!), but a few vendors will thank me for the information, and often find a tag "57" or "58" that they didn't understand the meaning of. You certainly have to be sure of what you're buying and ask many questions, but then when they send you the wrong hat altogether, that's clearly THEIR fault and they should bend over backwards to make it right. Humans make mistakes; polite humans do what they can to quickly make things right the best they can.
