Which is your favorite G-1?

I recently bought my second USN G1 jacket, this time a 1982 dated Brill Brothers one. It has some quality control issues compared to my Star 1968 jacket, such as the two bottom leather zipper panels being a slightly uneven length. The original zipper is still there and the retainer box is marked with a 'C' (maybe Conmar). However the original zipper slider body has been replaced with a YKK one, which is fine with me. The leather is cow hide and not goatskin. The bottom elastic waist band is stretched and no longer a snug fit but I actually like it that way. The size is a 42. Not a classic or fancy repro maybe but still a good everyday wear jacket for me now. I believe that no G1 jackets were issued from the late 1970s - early 1980s, so I guess that this was one of the first batch made when these jackets were re-issued in 1982. The leather is very good, and soft, for being 36 years old. All in all, I'm happy.

If it does not squeaking, then this is a great success and this is a comfortable jacket. I sold my same one Brill a few years ago due to the fact that it squeaked "like a flock of seagulls" ((c) Atticus Finch)

Well, it is comfortable for sure. Doesn't squeak like seagulls but maybe more like a nest of mice; that is it does squeak a little bit.

Tutto quanto sopra è stato spostato: ho seguito la via personalizzata con Wested Leather e mi hanno fatto costruire un ibrido USN G-1 / M-422A con maglie A-2 (rosso mattone). La pelle di capra è stata fornita da Wested e ho acquistato tutto il resto, inclusa la cerniera NOS G-1; il risultato è stato ottimo, davvero bello e una buona vestibilità in generale (la pelle tira leggermente sul petto gli ultimi pochi centimetri della cerniera).

Essendo stato incoraggiato dal progetto Wested, ho continuato ad abituarmi con Steve S (che a volte bazzica qui intorno). Steve mi ha costruito una bella capra ANJ-3 che è attualmente in fase di "rodaggio". Il lavoro di Steve è altamente raccomandato, ho altre idee sulle giacche che vorrei che Steve facesse.

I have one AVI G-1 (one week old or so…). It has a funny smell – goat smell, I assume…
It smells less now, but I wonder how long it takes to go away…

Goats don't smell, except with their noses. But goat meat stinks.
