I haven't tried this Honey. I use a Pecard's preparation. For dirty old sweats I have been using the same conditioner that I use on the Mercedes, Girots 3 in 1. Cleans and conditions, nice product. I think there is a dedicated thread (go figure...) for this kind of stuff. I know some folks have had issues with any kind of conditioner on some sweats. Not my experience.Already did. I copied Anthony's. I have been brushing, cleaning, and steaming hats and saddle-soaping leather sweats for three hours, and have only finished three hats.
I bought this to condition the sweats. Think it will work?

Mike, Thanks! I am not sure how to rate them because workmanship could be equal but not the components (felt, sweatband, ribbon, liner). Mayser Ulm was the major German brand so they used more expensive components at their highest qualities because customers were willing to pay extra. I would say Mayser Ulm, R. & M. Wegener, Hückel Weilheim, and A. Peschel had the finest quality workmanship. To be fair most German Hat Companies had high quality workmanship. You also had companies like Rockel & Co. that made great Felts but used lower price sweatbands, liners, bands to keep the price down. They were very successful with this approach.

We expect a full parade of hats, Max. Just keep mucking about with them and see what works for you. You'll get the hang of it soon enough. Needless to say that is a great hat.How do you like this one? I brushed it, vacuumed it, air-blasted it with my office's oil-free compressed air, and steamed it. The felt looks brand new.
I still have to learn how to do a decent crease, though.
