Can you all help me date this Sportclad Motorcycle Jacket?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if this is a late 40s or 50s Motorcycle Jacket? It has talon zipper and is a SportClad Horsehide jacket.

Wow that's a nice example! I had a very similar Sportclad, which I believe was sold thru JCPenny. My estimate for the date would be some point during the late 50's. Mine wasn't nearly as well preserved as yours but did feature a white mouton fur collar that fastens with buttons as opposed to snaps. Really cool jacket but awfully short on me.

Very nice Sportclad. I recently had an online conversation about jacket. I have a similar jacket, that is from 1947. It was purchased from the original owners nephew, who bought it after he got out of the service in 1947. Mine has an earlier zipper. My zipper dates to 1947. I don't see the wool lining lasting much into the 50s for any brand of motorcycle jacket. Buco, Harley, Hercules, all the makers used it but pretty much discontinued in the 50s. I would say this jackets from round 1950.

The one I pictured is as nice a leather as you will find. I took pictures of it with a shinki Himel Heron. They look and feel very similar. I've seen a couple of others that may have had a very similar horsehide. Not at all Heavy it just a great hand. I feel these particular red wool lined are special.

Thank you guys so much. I truly appreciate all of your help and insight. I haven't seen many so it is great to hear others like them a lot too. They are kind of short by modern clothes standards. I am pretty tall and I think at best from top of collar to bottom is 25 inches and it maybe 24.50 or so. What drew me to it was the iconic 50s look that I had pictured in my mind. It has a different style than a regular motorcycle jacket. I have an oakbrook and I think this one just looks and gets the vibe better. I must say that one you have is in flawless condition. That is the find of the decade. I am so impressed. Mine isn't near that nice. I wear mine a lot which maybe not the best thing but I think it is cool. I was so hoping when I bought it that it was truly from the 50s and it looks like it is. So yay!!! This forum is awesome. I am super impressed. Do you guys know if they made them in Tall or Long sizes back then? I know Sears did Tall and Long later on but not sure about jackets from this era.
