Hey all. I have a few Akubra fur felts and a vintage Stetson fur felt, so this isn't my first time to the rodeo--but it's summer and I'm looking for my first Panama hat. While hopefully someday soon I'll own a few Brent Black hats, I'm on a bit more of a budget right now. I certainly want a leather sweat band and can add a ribbon later if needed--however I don't believe there is a single person in Ohio that can stamp a hat. As of now I'm leaning towards Panama Hats Direct Fino grade ($155)--but would love something vintage and am open to suggestions. I might even have a friend who does leatherwork and can add a sweat band, but am unsure how that would affect sizing? I've got a 7 1/8 or 57 size noggin. Any other suggestions? Suspect those would have been much nicer quality for the money? Please still do keep an eye out for vintage ones, size 57 for me though.
