That's more than a good get. Excellent hats. That one looks super.

Thanks so much! However, I am in awe of a blue Mac Lachlin (?) you shared! The taller crown on that one is simply a beast! I love pieces with taller crowns. and now that my eyes have been lit with Homburgs, I'm considering a custom built on similar dimensions as larger sizes are rare!

Thanks, Jack. That blue MacLachlan was a chance find alright. Superb hats in every way, as you'll soon find out. I'm in doubt however if there's a hatter out there who's able to replicate the craftmanship that went into these hats. MacLachlan hat are a rare find in any shade, so best cherish the one you're going to get!

From Daniele:

Panizza Royal Sportsman in heather. Size 59. Made during the seventies at Panizza historical factory in Ghiffa on the Lago Maggiore.

This is my favorite of the hats I just bought from Daniele. Love it.

I'll bet you didn't get three for five, even back in the day![emoji16].
A couple of whiskeys and a late night offer used to have different results. Now they get me three hats for $5.

Hell, I don't even know what size they are. More exciting this way I guess.

1930s Stetson Bowler, late '40s Dobbs Homburg, and a flattened top hat that looks pretty old.

That Dobbs looks like it has some serious potential.

Taking a chance on a modern (ish?) Biltmore "Derby" in cognac. I originally thought it was a nice homburg open crown, but the mfg label calls it a Derby. Needs some serious brim curling to make it more D'orsay and old timey. Made an offer and bought it. We will see, at least it is a nice looking imperial. Got a kick out of the shop name it came from.

Great color, Mike. I’m curious if the crown is soft or hard. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually a homburg. Either way I like it.

Ohhh, they got it right with that hat. Nothing I can point to, but the whole hat just looks “right.”

I know, doesn't it? Daniele really helped me out with his expertise.

I went to Italy once, to buy a Newfoundland dog. A friend asked me why I was going to Liguria to buy a Canadian breed. My answer was "Italians make everything more beautiful."

What the others said. That Dobbs looks promising indeed. You'll get $5 worth of fun out of these no matter what.

Interesting piece, Mike. Hard to find bowler hats in other than black. See what you can make of it.

I recently checked out the instagram account of Stephen Temkin (Leon Drexler) and he had an picture of an in progress, dark blue homburg with the sort of crown proportions that I asked for. Either someone else in London has very similar tastes to me, or I'm getting new hat soon... Spoiler alert: I am getting my new hat soon. :)
