How I know it's available, btw, is when my wife and I are in the drug store she almost always stops in the cosmetic area and looks at lipsticks. Plenty of reds, which she never buys.

Well, that inspires me. I'm going to see if I can pull off red lipstick. My mother always said you need to wait until you're over 30 for red lipstick. THAT particular mile marker was passed by some time ago (ahem) so perhaps it's time.

Still have an old 1970s label maker but can't source the red or blue plastic strips that were used with them. A pity as they were so much easier to use than the electronic label makers of today.

Don't worry, we don't have ants and roaches in my apartment block. And I didn't killed the two or three living spiders in the upper corners. But, they will starve in the cellar, anyway.

Hey, thanks a lot. Never thought to look on ebay! D'uh....

Always thought that the white print on red plastic was so classy (yeah, I'm a simple man).

I used my last roll remnant, from the 80s, to print my name to stick on my house door.

It almost amazes me how many peddlers of old ephemera seem never to consider how a, say, 56-year-old calendar has practical use AS A CALENDAR.

But then, most of the sellers aren’t really specialists in any particular field. They just sell old stuff online, whatever kinds of old stuff they might turn a quick profit on.

As 2012 was approaching I bought a 1956 calendar from an online seller. I had to explain to him why the 1958 calendar he sent me wasn’t quite what I had in mind. To his credit, he refunded the money and had me keep the calendar anyway.

Fortunately, ours were always the turn-the-page kind as opposed to the tear-off-the-page kind. I've got most years from 1952 to 1980, although I tend not to use the later ones because they weren't as pleasant to look at. An added bonus is my gradnmother's written notations of things like "Pay $1.20 ice co." or "Teddy to Vet."

I also have a pile of old Girl Scout calendars I use in my office, so I always know when Juliette Low's birthday is coming up.

I resisted for a long time until someone gave me a cell phone

I use my iPhone for the things already mentioned and more.
Say what you want.
But it has helped me so much in emergencies.

I couldn’t do business without my iPhone. It truly does allow me to put my office in my pocket and tend to my financial affairs from anywhere I can get a cell signal. I shop on the thing. I look up all sorts of mostly trivial matters I wish to know more about.

It's saved me money and has helped to
cut down on wasting time on many things
that in the past would've taken me all day.

But I refuse to drive and use that device.
If I know or am expecting a certain
call, I'll pull over.
