I suggest you visit Ercolano and Pompeii and the southern part during the middle seasons. Autumn and spring in order of my preference. What did you see of the north over Genoa and its surroundings?
El Lago de Como, Bellagio, I Giardini di Villa Melzi, were my favorites.
In Como there was a beauuuutifulll little blue chapel-like structure we saw from afar. I thought it must be dedicated to a saint. When we walked there we saw a small plaque that read "A Volta". What a country! What class! What history! What a sense of esthetics, both new and old!

Italians can make anything more beautiful. That is why I went to Italy to buy a Canadian dog. :)

In Villa Melzi I still remember an enormous Lebanese Cedar, just like the medallions Lebanese people wear around their necks in Mexico, and an old gardener yelling "fuoriiii!!!" and waving a broom to a couple of kids who ventured on to the lawn, in spite of numerous signs warning visitors not to do so.

Ahhhhh, Italia!!!
And the food!!! Anything you had anywhere, even the simplest dish, was exquisite.
I have to go again.

You know, Eric, now that I learned to appreciate American style hats, yours make me feel the same way Steven's do.
To covet hurts, I've discovered, so when I scroll down to look at your pics I expect a little pain.

Thanks for letting me share Doc. The "thin" ribbon hats are my fav's. To my eye they better fit between city/country uses. The vintage Stetson advertising called them (paraphrasing) grand hats to travel in. The VS I shared this morning is truly a grand hat. Like your prized optimo's the felt, the felt! The sage hued felt is a cool green and works well for me. Thanks sir.

This afternoon I have packed my guitar and intend to play some acoustic blues out of the house. Taking some coffee and lunch on the way I am sporting a vtg. Stetson Open Road (tan). Coffee and a small tapa are the perfect pre-guitar food.

Learning so much from you guys about hats. Thanks for all your great input on my hat "adventures". Decided to try a Homburg today, found a beautiful Cavenagh for my 1st venture into this style of hat. Feels really odd on my head and it fits well but seems too small for the frame of my face and head. Thoughts? I'm thinking I should look for something a bit more substantial like a western style derby, aka Bat Masterson....

Way to explore the homburg style of hat. Excellent. I found the larger brimmed homburgs to be more frequently reached for and worn. The homburgs can be worn informal - mine 99% of the time are worn informal.

Still having felt temps this morning, back to the 90s all next week. To celebrate, I ran out for some mochas for the wife and I. Further celebration was my Mallory XV on my head. Feels so good to at least wear it for a couple of hours...

Excellent!

Staying in bed with convalescing Ana today.
I thought I'd wear my cobalt Optimo. I haven't given my Optimos any attention since I acquired my Moonhaul.
Yes, I wear my hats while in bed.

Oh! That was the reason. I thought maybe there was something on it you didn't want us to know, like that you are a Dallas Cowboys fan, or something. :)

Ha! Nah. Not Dallas. But at least they have a professional football team. All we have here in the Buckeye state are Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Querido Max, has visto un rincón de Italia. Maravilloso, sin embargo, una rebanada.
Extrañas muchos otros segmentos antes de tener un trozo de naranja llamado Italia ;)

I love a soft diamond in a classic OR. Those shoes are absolutely beautiful! I'm sure you will sound stupendous.

The sound of weeping Optimos is truly melancholy. That cobalt is such a nice tone of blue. Relax with Ana, it is the best medicine.

Finally got enough of a break in the heat to wear felt.

This is my oldest custom and probably my favorite hat. Pecan VS.

Thanks for the support Eric. This was a nice parade of your homburgs this morning. I enjoyed it so much. Very inspirational.

Adam Premier in "Aspen" color. Bit on the beater side of the aisle but I like it. View attachment 130773
Very nice Adam Larry. Welcome to the Lounge. We have a dedicated thread for Adam Hats, called the Adam Alley. You should post this one (with photos of the innards) there.

Raining today, so spent some time with my co-owners trying to work out a magneto problem on my share o plane. Next plane over was an RAF colours T-6 Texan (Or as the Brit’s called it, Harvard). Dusty hanger, rain outside so opted for the indestructible Campdraft.
