Great shirt and a great pattern, I love pin-ups on a shirt but sometimes it can be controversial. But it's all in the eye of the beholder, nonetheless I only wear this shirt on occasions when I know that no one will complain.

It's hand made, you can just about read the label. My wife makes most of our clothes.

Some lovely shirts guys, keep 'em coming.
We were out and about in the medieval city of Salisbury yesterday. One place Tina likes to visit is a shop called Franklyns. They are sewing specialists, everything from fabrics to sewing machines, to paper patterns, they even have regular sewing classes. Whilst Tina was absorbed in a book of patterns and I was perusing the fabrics, a lady commented on my shirt. She was very complimentary about how seemless the front panels appear. I told her that my wife makes my shirts that way, pointing out that the breast pocket is all but invisible. She told me that I wear it well. What a lovely compliment, made my day and I told her so, then I showed her my shirt collection, it's in an album on my phone. By now Tina had joined us and explained how she makes the shirts, more compliments. And this is what the fuss was all about.

The attention and compliments that this shirt gets is unbelievable. My guess is that so many Brits have visited the US, and along with the song that made Route 66 famous, it's one of those must have's, but it's only available if you have a talented missus.
Mind you, Tina not only made the shirt, she completely redesigned the trousers. Originally they were slim fit, tapered and as is today's style, without a turned up cuff. Being oversize gave her a lot of material to work with. She unpicked the waist, the crotch seam and each leg seam. Then she reduced the taper by taking in the waist and pelvic area, she then turned up a cuff on the hem of each trouser leg and finally she sewed the pants back together again. Not bad for five pounds. And of course with Colin Johnson's shoes and Esther's hat, I'm bound to get a comment, or even a compliment, or two. All I have to do is wear my fine outfit.

Have ever noticed how things like good or bad luck comes in threes? My new blazer wouldn't fit properly, I just could not make out why. The size was correct and I could get it on but then it looked odd. "I'm not surprised," said my missus, "they have sewn two right arms onto it. The left arm is a right arm sewn in upside down." So that has been sent back, awaiting replacement. My new hat was as good as I expected, but it was far too small. The label on the box had my correct size on it, but somewhere in the chain a picker/packer had put the wrong size label on the box. That too is awaiting a replacement.
And just to prove disasters come in threes, my beautiful blue Hawaiian shirt had an accidental bleach spillage on it. Disaster? Well the fabric company in Honolulu no longer print the material in that shade of blue, nearest they do at present is navy. Then her Ladyship came up with a gem of an idea. She unpicked the patterned sleeves that had the bleach splash on them and replaced them with a plain blue to give the shirt a contrast, and what a fine job she made of it. All I need now are my replacement hat and blazer, and some fine sunshine as an excuse to wear them.
