Bama; I am chuckling with the memory of a very early hat purchase of mine. It was more than a decade a go I had purchased a Stetson Whippet from Australia. I was thrilled with the inexpensive price and the opportunity to own such a historic and iconic hat. It arrived in a flat envelope and even more shocking was the hat. A trilby Stetson Whippet licensed to make in Australia! Quite a hat.
Perched on top of a couple of Whippets of similar color.
Hat came out of the flat envelope and popped open to this.

I was using the word "appointments" to describe the fittings of the hat. The ribbon, workmanship, sweat, binding and liner. Appointments was used in such a manor - the room was spartan in its appointments.

A tall crown can be creased down, making them somewhat adjustable. A short crown, however, cannot be creased up.

I tend to avoid stingy brims, Max. They start to feel like "little hats" to me very soon, which I don't like for myself. There are stingy brimmed hats in my collection though and pictures of me wearing them. Stay tuned.
"Hatless" I tend to avoid too, but I'll make an exception today.
