Exactly what happened. The top of the heading was touching but not the sides.

Just make sure if you want to bash/shape a crown start with a 5.5 or 6" open crown. It make a big difference to get the dome right and have it where it sits right above your ears in the back.

I would think that a SilverBelly CampDraft with the edge binding removed would be very close. The brim would be wide enough and the crown should make the desired shape. The only issue would be ironing or flanging the desired shape to the crown which is slightly flanged.The singer's hat:
Looks like a possibly bigger brim than on a Fed(?-- not so much from the side, but from the top), but with a crown/crease I've seen achieved on a number of hats featured here, especially Akubras.
